It’s always been one of the most self-conscious parts of my body that’s made it more difficult to find flattering clothes even in my thirties. There’s been times where I would be so in love with a top or a dress but then it wouldn’t fit right because I didn’t have the boobs to fill it out with. If I do look like I have a fuller chest, it’s all thanks to padding until I want to wear lower-cut tops, then it becomes an issue. The real-life struggle of finding clothes that don’t highlight how not very well-endowed I am has always been a challenge and I’m sure many women also struggle with the same issue.

Of course, over the years I’ve also learned to embrace my smaller chest which is beautiful in its own way. A flat chest is quite high fashion after all and we don’t have to deal with any back problems or unwanted stares. However, for tips on how to draw attention away from the chest altogether, I’ve definitely found certain styles look better to minimize the appearance of a flat chest. I’m okay with having a flat chest most days but sometimes I just don’t want any attention to be placed there and there’s definitely some tricks you can pull off. Here are four fool-proof ways to draw attention away from a flat chest when you just want feel and look your best.

1. Wear a high-neck tank top to accentuate your shoulders.

Some may think showing cleavage is the only way to look sexy but not true. I’ve found that high-neck tanks do very well in showing off your frame and to draw attention upwards. There’s something very sexy about shoulders and a higher neckline is perfect for showing them off. With a fitted crewneck tank top, you immediately draw attention away from your chest. Not to mention, it’s a super chic and flattering cut that adds automatic points for style. When dressing for a smaller chest, make sure to highlight your other assets instead. For me, I’ve been told I have killer shoulders so what better way to show them off than with a high-neck tank.

2. Wear an oversized cropped shirt to highlight your waist.

My favourite part of my body has always been my stomach. Where I lack chest-wise, I like to think I make up in my default abs (that I gratefully got from my mama). The best way to not highlight a small chest is to give them nothing to look at – an oversized shirt does just that. Instead, a long-sleeved crop top is perfect for highlighting your great waistline. In this case, it draws the eye downwards so you can let your figure shine. Having a petite frame my whole life, I definitely don’t have the most curves but wearing an oversized cropped shirt creates the illusion of a cinched waist. Cropped fits with high-waisted anything always make for an undeniably flattering fit.

3. Wear a long-sleeved mini dress to lengthen and draw attention to your legs.

Looking for a sexy outfit to wear for a night out that doesn’t have to show any cleavage at all? I got you. A long-sleeved mini dress is all sorts of sexy that covers more than half your body but thoughtfully highlights those long legs. I don’t have the longest legs by any means (I’m only 5”4) but a mini dress definitely makes me look like I have legs for days. When you don’t have boobs but still want to show some skin, the legs are basically the next best thing if not better. The trick is to show just enough to create intrigue. Style a mini dress with a trench on top and voila, you have a sexy going out look that doesn’t draw any attention to your chest but rather diverts all eyes to your long legs.

Lastly, and a personal favourite of mine is to rock a jumpsuit. I believe jumpsuits are the only article of clothing where you’re basically all covered up – minus the arms – but you can still look so sexy with it. A fitted jumpsuit also highlights your figure and can create the illusion of one without ever highlighting your chest area. For women that don’t want to feel self-conscious about their chest area like myself, I throw on a jumpsuit that has a higher neckline that is both chic and stylish. Wearing a fitted one that hugs in all the right places? It automatically makes me feel like a million bucks. Instead of pulling my top up all the time like I would for a plunging neckline, I can just feel comfortable and confident.

There are so many ways that a small-chested girl like myself has been able to feel confident. Although I don’t care as much as I used to about not having the most on top, I do like to look and feel sexy in the way I dress. The best way I’ve found to do that is to highlight other favourite parts of myself like my shoulders, legs, stomach and figure. They’re just as sexy to show off – if not more – and contrary to popular belief, boobs aren’t everything. I’ll take personality and killer style over a set of knockers any day.

I'm Michelle, and as someone deeply immersed in the world of fashion and style, I can empathize with the struggles many individuals face when it comes to finding the perfect clothing that complements their unique body shapes. My expertise stems from years of personal experience and a genuine passion for helping others navigate the often complex realm of fashion.

In this insightful article, the author discusses the challenges of dressing for a smaller chest while providing practical tips to draw attention away from this area. The author not only shares personal struggles but also embraces the beauty of a flat chest, highlighting the high fashion appeal and the freedom from back problems or unwanted stares.

Let's delve into the four fool-proof ways the author recommends for drawing attention away from a flat chest:

  1. High-Neck Tank Top to Accentuate Shoulders: The author suggests that a high-neck tank top can be an excellent choice to draw attention upwards and showcase killer shoulders. By opting for a fitted crewneck tank, one can divert attention from the chest, creating a chic and flattering look.

  2. Oversized Cropped Shirt to Highlight Waist: Here, the focus shifts to the waist, with the author favoring oversized cropped shirts. This style not only gives a relaxed, casual vibe but also creates the illusion of a cinched waist, drawing the eye downward and away from the chest.

  3. Long-Sleeved Mini Dress to Lengthen Legs: For a sexy night out without revealing cleavage, the author recommends a long-sleeved mini dress. This style covers more than half the body but thoughtfully highlights the legs, creating intrigue and diversion from the chest area.

  4. Form-Fitting Jumpsuit to Focus on Figure: The author's personal favorite, the jumpsuit, is hailed as a versatile option for small-chested individuals. A form-fitting jumpsuit with a higher neckline not only keeps the wearer covered but also highlights the figure, instilling confidence without emphasizing the chest area.

The overarching message is clear: confidence in one's appearance can be achieved by emphasizing other assets like shoulders, waist, legs, and overall figure. The author encourages embracing personal style and personality over societal norms, reinforcing the idea that self-confidence goes beyond physical attributes.
