When it comes to a woman's clothing size, it can get tricky. Many of my customers walk into Posh and see many different types of sizing in our styles. For example our sizes can run 5/7/9, s/m/l, or even 24/25/26. I will spot a customer staring at all the sizes intenselyin a state of confusion and I can see "help" written all over their face. Here is a little guide to help you understand the woman's size chart.
Women's sizes are divided and tend to be categorized based on height.
- Misses are the sizes you tend to see in even numbers, for example, 2/4/6. This is a category that is typically for women who are about an average height of around 5'4, average bust size and hourglass shape. The dress size number is given based on your bust size in inches.
- Juniors are the odd numbered sizes, for example 5/7/9. This sizing tends to be for shorter women and may tend to have more of a straight figure. If you would like to figure out the misses size based on a junior fit, the junior size will be the next number up from the misses size. For example, if you wear a size 4 in misses then go up one size in juniors to a size 5.

Figuring out your jean size can be tricky as there is no universal sizing system and each brand has its own fit. This is why just because you buy a certain size in one brand of jean does not mean you will be that same size in the next brand. This can make finding your perfect jean a little frustrating.
When you see a size 24 in jeans, this is referring to your waist size in inches. So a 24 is equivalent to a size 0.
When in doubt, stop in to Posh Boutique and try on a few different styles and sizes to really learn what styles fit your body best!

I was wondering if I could get some more help on what size I should buy. I’ve found a lot of jeans I’d like to buy but am hesitant. So I just bought a pair of 505 Levi’s size 8. They are a little big but comfortable. I just went to boot barn and tried on a pair of Shyanne jeans and I’m a size 30. Lastly, I tried on a pair of Arizona jeans and I’m a size 9 that are too tight and the size 11 is too big…what size jeans should I buy when shopping?! So confused lol

Hi Renee,
Misses are even numbers and Junior sizes are odd numbers. If you wear a 5, then you are a 5 in Juniors and a 4 in Misses.
The article explains it this way,
" For example, if you wear a size 4 in misses then go up one size in juniors to a size 5. "
