10 Ways to Reconnect with Your Feminine Energy

In modern culture, it’s so easy for us as women to get caught up in our ‘masculine energy’ and lose touch a little with our more feminine side.

Our masculine side gets expressed when we’re working toward a goal, making progress, getting things done, and pushing forward. Whilst our feminine side gets expressed when we move with the flow of life, embrace our creative energy, dance, play, and attune to our internal process.

Already you’re likely to see that with masculine energy being far more focused on progress and success, it tends to be valued more than feminine energy. Yet when we overvalue masculinity, we’re often left feeling exhausted, burnt out, caught up in our mind and completely disconnected to ourselves and our deeper needs and desires.

Feminine energy traits are affiliated with nurturing, love, receptivity, compassion, and care. This ‘being’ energy is the polar opposite of masculine energy, which revolves around ‘doing.’ We get so caught up in needing to be productive, that we undervalue and therefore disregard just how important it is for us to find balance and make time, space and conscious effort to be in our feminine energy too.

Qualities of Masculine Energy

  • Action-oriented (active)
  • Giving
  • Organisational
  • Systemizing
  • Analytical
  • Thinking
  • Singularly focused
  • Aggressive
  • Individualistic
  • Challenging
  • Rigid

Qualities of Feminine Energy

  • Stillness (passive)
  • Receiving
  • Spontaneous
  • Fluid
  • Empathic
  • Feeling
  • Multitasking
  • Nurturing
  • Collective
  • Accepting
  • Flexible

Feminine energy can often feel very incongruous when you’re used to pushing forward in every area of your life 24/7! We are told we have to achieve more, hustle like never before, and pursue our dreams at all cost. Our ability to ‘have it all’ is a double-edged sword. To maintain this drive, you have to harness your masculine energy at the expense of your feminine.

Being overly masculine and under-feminine leaves many of us longing for something else—something rejuvenating, something carefree, something creative, something spontaneous – which is the feminine!

Keep in mind, whether someone has more masculine or feminine traits is not necessarily tied to their gender. Every person possesses aspects of both masculine and feminine energy. Men and women, and everyone along the gender continuum, exhibit traits that are outlined as masculine or feminine. It’s important for everyone to find a balance of these beautiful energies as both have their benefits and strengths.

10 Ways to Embrace your Feminine Energy:

Spend Time in Reflection

With the constantly go-go-go pace of life and our tendency to fill every waking moment with a task (or device!), we rarely take time to listen to what’s going on inside of us. We lose touch with our deeper selves and our inner voice which is such a huge part of who we really are. There are a few simple ways you can explore this deeper, internal, feminine voice and one really simple one is a practice of reflection. This could look like taking a few minutes each day to stop and really tune in, or a journaling practice can be a really beautiful and powerful way to connect to this inner voice and give her a place to be seen and heard on a regular basis.

Get Into Nature

The feminine is all about life force energy. Therefore, spending time immersed in nature is a perfect way to reconnect to that energy. When you are feeling out of balance, caught up in your mind or feeling the stressors of the day weighing you down, head out to a park, the ocean, a forest or anywhere you can lose yourself in your natural surroundings for a little while. Leave your phone at home and simply breathe and drop back into your body. This is sure to leave you feeling more grounded and revitalised.

Unleash Your Creativity

The feminine is the creative force and no matter what you might be thinking- you are a creative being! There are infinite ways to express yourself creatively. This may be writing, dancing, painting, crafting, or dreaming up new ideas. It could be gardening, cooking or playing music. It’s a common misconception that traditional “art” is the only form of creativity! Expand your mind and see what feels liberating to you. Then make a habit of doing it more frequently.

Value spontaneity and play

The masucline is all about planning and organisation, and while this has its part in modern life, we tend to leave very little room in our lives these days for spontaneity and play. We don’t value taking time out or having fun for the sake of it nearly as much as we should. Being overworked, set to a schedule and with social plans done a month in advance, we don’t often experience the spontaneous joys of life. Make everyday an opportunity for spontaneous fun. These can be small things – turn up at a friend’s house without texting first, take a new route to work and see what’s new along the way, take yourself out for brunch for no reason, make time for the things you always say you want to do, but don’t get around to. Most of all, practice saying YES more! Dont let ‘no’ be your default answer. So much life lives in the Yes.

Get Your Groove On

Dancing is one of the best ways to get out of your head and into your body. Pop on your favourite music when you’re at home and dance up a storm. Pop the radio on on your way to work and bop along whilst you drive. Take five minutes at the end of the day to let your hair down and dance it out. This is a great way to relieve stress and get back into your body and out of your head. Most importantly- don’t worry about how you look! Embrace the saying ‘dance as though no one is watching’ and don’t form any judgements about the way your body wants to move. This is incredibly liberating and joyous and a really fast way to shift your energy.

Glam up!

Yes, activewear is super comfy, right? However, these days we are caught up in wearing activewear or workwear and dont always make an effort to dress in a feminine way. If you’re wanting to embrace your feminine side, dressing the part is very effective! Pop on a dress or your favourite flowing skirt. Pop on some heels or your favourite jewellery. You don’t need permission or a special occasion. Remember too that your definition of femininity is your own, so whatever that means for you. Find your own expression and enjoy it. You make the rules here so have some fun.

Activate Your Senses

Our bodies hold a lot of power and wisdom as women. Feminine energy is far more connected to feelings and intuition than the masculine. However, we need to trust our body and heart in order to hear these messages. One way to connect to our bodies more and get out of logical thinking is to practice activating all of the senses. This may be a long hot bath with essential oils, beautiful music, maybe some dark chocolate and a beautiful body lotion. When you intentionally experience an activity with all five senses it helps you to be fully present in the moment and move away from your overthinking and overanalyzing mind.

Slow down

If your pace is always close to turbo speed and you feel like you never stop, guess what? It’s time to slow down. Chronic busy-ness plagues our culture. It is both a means of ‘getting ahead’ as much as it can be a form of distraction. Being in the feminine means taking time as it comes and feeling into situations. It’s about trusting intuition and allowing time and space for life to unfold. Sure, we need to get things done throughout the day! Yet so often the pressure to be ‘on’ and busy all the time only comes from ourselves and often our own feelings of guilt, lack or need. Start to get comfortable with taking breaks, slowing down, resting, taking a nap, having spare time. This is so important for us as women and actually serves to make us more productive in the long run.

Practice self care and compassion

The best practice we can do to embrace our femininity is to practice self care, self love, and self worth. Compassion is our nature and showing this to ourselves and to others is a beautiful way to drop into our hearts. Being able to love and accept ourselves as we are is often a long journey for us as women, yet it is a very important one. Knowing your worth and allowing yourself time and space to do things you enjoy and to take time out for you is so crucial. Make a list of things that make you feel good- this could be a yoga class, a solo breakfast date, a long walk on the beach, a glass of wine at sunset, a long hot bath, a date with a friend, a massage- whatever lights you up and then make time for these throughout your week. Schedule them in and make them as important as any other appointment. Nurturing ourselves means we have more time to nurture others. Once you fill up your own cup and feel energised and content, then you can give without it depleting you.

Try a Bali Retreat!

It is incredible the way the Bali retreat environment immediately invites women to slip into their femininity almost from the moment they arrive. Adopting a slower pace of life, being pampered with spa treatments, enjoying rejuvenating yoga classes and taking time out to follow your bliss are all perfect ingredients for feminine energy to rise. Not making plans and having the ability to be spontaneous and try new things, to be creative and to play- these are all beautiful aspects of the retreat journey. Most of all, simply taking time out for you allows you to tap into that inner voice and really listen to your needs. This is why so much transformation occurs on a women’s retreat. Last but not least, spending time with other like-minded women allows you to be open and vulnerable and know you’re not alone on this journey.

From Masculine to Feminine

Roxie, a nurse, rarely had time for self-care. The retreat gave her a much-needed break to enjoy activities like nail care and massages, reconnecting with her feminine side in a serene environment.

The retreat encouraged all the guests to focus on self-love and self-care, letting go of future worries and embracing their true selves. It replaced external expectations with inner radiance.

Guests arrived tired but left feeling relaxed, cared for, and free from stress. The retreat emphasized the deeper value of self-care.

In a world that often overlooks self-nurturing and feminine energy, our retreat is a sanctuary for women. It’s a place to escape daily demands, find yourself, and reconnect with your inner radiance. Embrace your inner goddess and enjoy the beauty of your feminine energy.

Don’t underestimate the power of connecting with your feminine energy

It’s easy to lose touch with your feminine side, but as you can see, it’s a necessary aspect of who you are. If you feel burned out, overworked, fragmented, or exhausted, you’re in desperate need of feminine energy to restore, inspire, and enliven you.
