Everyone wants to support their home team. In a 2019 survey, more than 6 in 10 respondentssaid they preferred to buy products made in America. While the increased globalization of manufacturing makes truly American-made productsever-harder to find, some clothing brands have held out to keep their products part of the fabric of America.
American Giant
American Giant is exceptional just for offering American-made clothesfor both men and women at reasonable prices. All of its garments are made from Carolina cotton and other select fabrics, but the brand is most famous for its full-zip hoodies. You can order American Giant clothes online, and italso has brick-and-mortar retail locationsin Massachusetts, California, and New York.

Inspired and designed by Asian Americans but "created for everyone," Akashi-Kama is a brand that sells knitwear, hoodies, caps, tees, and more on its site (there are currently no brick-and-mortar stores). One of its signature piecesis inspired by the Noragi jacket, a Japanese "workwear silhouette" that rivals the hoodie in its classic coolness.

American Trench
Philadelphia-based American Trench makes all of its garments, which range from socks and beanies to parkas and, yes, its original muse — trench coats — in the U.S. Some of its fabric and yarns are imported; the company notes which products are made with imported goods, so shoppers can be as "made in the U.S." purist as they want to be. The company sells both men's and women's wear, plus a small selection of home goods. There is also a clearance section of pretty deeply discounted items.

The name of this Los Angeles essentials company stands for American Made, Vintage Inspired — an apt way to describe its minimalist garments for women starting at around $50. Battenwear
Looking for American-made outdoor gear that easily transitions to streetwear? This is what 2011-founded Battenwear specializes in. The company has an office and showroom in New York's garment district and a design studio in Topanga Canyon, California. While originally launched as a menswear brand, Battenwear notes that many of its designs are unisex. Blluemade
Founded in 2016 by husband-and-wife team Alex Robins and Lilly Lampe, Blluemade works with "heritage linen mills and family-run businesses and factories in New York City's Historic Garment District," according to its website. It should also be noted the company's name is not a typo — the extra "l" is for linen, which is "central to Blluemade's origins." While many of its fabrics do come from the U.S., it also imports textiles from Japan and Belgium. On its site, expect to find a limited selection of classic items like chore coats, button-down shirts, jumpsuits, caps, and more.

Hackwith Design House
The St. Paul, Minnesota-based Hackwith Design House launched in 2013 with only one limited-edition design, and it's grown to offer additional collections including size-inclusive apparel, swimwear, and even a buyback program in The Sustain Shop. Its comfortable women's clothes are done in-house by a team of Minnesota seamstresses and are often made-to-order, yet still for a reasonable price.

Based in San Francisco, Dsptch "produces goods with a large focus on functionality and durability." Its products, it notes, are meant to last a lifetime. Robert Wesley Magness was already a 10-year veteran of Ralph Lauren when he launched Grown & Sewn, his own collection of men's casual pants rooted in American tradition. Ginew
Ginew notes it is the "only Native American-owned denim line," but it offers much more than that. Run by a husband-and-wife team from Wisconsin and based out of Portland, Oregon, Ginew also offers leather goods, coats, bandanas, jewelry, and more, all imbued with the spirit of America's indigenous community. In response to the question, "Am I able to wear Ginew if I am not Native American," the brand responds with an enthusiastic: "Absolutely!"
Todd Shelton
Todd Shelton's brand of casual wear for men is made at its factory and showroom in New Jersey and sold direct-to-consumer through its online store — which also links to other clothing lines made in the United States. The in-house approach makes it easier to maintain sustainable practices and cater to individual customers with unique size and fit options. Expect to find a classic line of jeans, pants, button-down shirts, tees, and sweatshirts.

Grease Point Workwear
Grease Point does exactly what its name implies, focusing on mostly made-to-order men's workwear (note that its lead time for made-to-order garments is around four weeks). This includes a line of pants (mostly in selvage denim, a type of denim that is considered superior in quality to regular denim for the way it is woven and finished) in a number of different fits. The retailer also offers outerwear, button-down shirts, shorts, tees, and accessories. Based out of Portland, Oregon, the company will also repair any damaged garments for shipping plus a "nominal" repair fee.
American Fitness Wear
A veteran-owned company, American Fitness Wear is based in downtown Los Angeles, where it makes athletic wear for men and women. Only a select few of its products are not 100% American-made, and all are noted in the product descriptions.
Loyal Stricklin
Another company run by a husband-and-wife team, Loyal Stricklin began its made-in-America journey in Opelika, Alabama, and now operates out of Nashville's Wedgewood-Houston neighborhood. It offers a limited line of men's jackets in both selvagedenim and leather, as well as various leather goods including bags, wallets, accessories, and home goods.

Buck Mason
Venice Beach, California, neighbors Erik Allen and Sasha Koehn teamed up in 2013 to create Buck Mason, a brand specializing in minimalist jeans and tees for men who want their clothes to stay relevant for longer than a single season. In collaboration with local fabric mills, it now produces and sells a full line of men's and women's clothing online and from 18 stores across the country, with three more opening in 2022.

Raleigh Denim Workshop
Named after the town where its products are made — Raleigh, North Carolina — this company began "with the idea of making the ideal pair of jeans" and has grown to include other apparel in its repertoire. Loggerhead uses the proceeds from its sales to benefit two causes — the preservation of the sea turtle for which it's named and the preservation of American textile manufacturing. Shockoe was founded in 2012 in downtown Richmond, Virginia, and its initial goal was to "create quality handmade jeans using the finest denim available." Tanner Goods

Pendleton
Pendleton has been weaving American-made woolen blankets for more than 150 years, but it continues to improve its designs and offer new options — including plenty of apparel these days — in minimalist and Native American-inspired styles. Check out the National Parks series for blankets and other accessories, with colors designed to match the scenery of individual American national parks such as the Grand Canyon.

Tellason
Tellason is another company specializing in selvage, offering raw selvage denim jeans and other products in the same fabric. Founded by a pair of friends in 1990, the company notes that not only are its jeans made in the U.S., but "the pocketing, thread, buttons, rivets, and leather patches are as well." In addition to pants, Tellason offers shirts, jackets, and accessories for men (although some products could be considered unisex).

Schott NYC
Schott NYC reinvented American outerwear at least twice, first by creating the first zippered jacket, then the first leather motorcycle jacket in 1928. Today, the company once associated with '50s teen rebelliousness remains family-owned and predominantly American-made. Its premium leather and bomber jackets for men and women are still its flagship products, but its online store includes a much broader selection of shirts, coats, shoes, and accessories.
Upstate Stock
Looking for American-made winter gear? New York-based Upstate Stock offers hats, gloves, and scarves, all made in the U.S. Each product entry notes what percentage of the fabric is American-made, and the company has partnered with a tannery in Update New York for some of its products' detailing. The company also offers a number of other products, including home goods, kitchen items, and more — much of it also manufactured in the states.

LC King
Landon Clayton King pivoted from raising champion bird dogs to designing durable workwear clothes in January 1913. Ever since, the company he founded has made its clothes in the United States and sold them at its factory store in Bristol, Tennessee, and more recently expanded its product line to include streetwear in addition to the classic barn coats, overalls, denim caps, heavy-duty jeans, and more.

While not all its fabrics appear to be American-sourced, Los Angeles-based Sugar Candy Mountain notes that all of its products are "made with love" in the City of Angels. The company offers a line of women's wear that focuses on soft and iconic silhouettes, classic materials, and a sustainable manufacturing process. New Balance Shoes
No other brand makes as much athletic footwear in the U.S.A. as New Balance. Each year the company makes more than 4 million pairs with at least 70% domestic materials. Look for shoes labeled "made in U.S.A.," which are often more-durable but priced higher, starting at $160 online. The company faced a class action over the claim, but it was solid enough for the U.S. military to sign a $17.3 million contractto buy sneakers for basic training.
Stetson
One of the most iconic and enduring symbols of the American West, Stetson hats were first made by John B. Stetson in Philadelphia in 1865. Inspired by a trip out West, Stetson designed the durable, waterproof hat — originally known as "The Boss of the Plains" — to suit the needs of Westerners with a high crown and a wide brim to protect against the elements. While the Philadelphia factory closed in 1970, the beloved western-style cowboy hats are now made in Garland, Texas, by the company Hatco under license from Stetson for customers in North America.

Hickey Freeman
Hickey Freeman is a manufacturer devoted to craftsmanship, as embodied by its 225,000 square-foot Rochester, New York, factory dubbed "The Temple." The craftsmanship comes at a high cost, however, as its high-end tuxedos and suit separates are sold for prices well into the hundreds and thousands, even when on sale.
Reformation
Almost all the clothes stocking the shelves of this Melrose Avenue boutique come from Reformation's own factory headquarters in downtown Los Angeles, while the remainder are still made using sustainable practices in the United States and occasionally abroad. Reformation sells women's fashions designed to show off one's figure, with uniquely designed dresses, tops, and shirts selling typically for $28 to $488.
Berrydog Bikinis
Berrydog combines Brazilian beachwear with Southern California style and American manufacturing for its line of skimpy bikinis for women unafraid of showing a little (ahem) extra at the beach. Check its site for sheer and thong bikinis, as well as sarongs and discounted yoga pants.
Allen Edmonds Shoes
Only 1% of shoes sold in America are made here, including Allen Edmonds footwear. The company specializes in painstakingly crafted, hand-stitched men's dress shoes of varying styles and widths. The company's shoes are understandably expensive, but its website includes a clearance section with shoes and slippers starting at around $100.

Founded in 1978 but with roots dating back to 1932, Gitman Bros. has been producing American-made clothing for longer than most. Michael Stars
Michael Stars sells a full roster of luxury apparel for women, and devotes much of the proceeds to a foundation focused on things such as reducing gender-based violence and advocating global education.
