Acceptable Freedom Mailbox® Address Formats (2024)

Mailing Address Format

It is important that when mail is sent to your Freedom Mailbox® address, it is compatible with USPS mail delivery rules. If not, there is risk that your mail could be delayed, or worse, returned to sender as undeliverable. The following is to help you understand your Freedom Mailbox® address and acceptable alternative ways for it to formatted.

Preferred Address Format:

  • John Doe
  • Acme Inc.
  • 600 W Santa Ana Blvd Ste 114A PMB 999
  • Santa Ana, CA 92701

Alternative Formats:

  • John Doe
  • Acme Inc.
  • 600 W Santa Ana Blvd Ste 114A #999
  • Santa Ana, CA 92701
  • John Doe
  • Acme Inc.
  • 600 W Santa Ana Blvd Ste 114A-999
  • Santa Ana, CA 92701

If you are having trouble making address change adjustments using any of the suggested formats above, it's often a good idea to call the institution or company and explain the address format. Many institutions have ways to format the address manually or from their end that may not be available to you on the client-side. If this doesn't work, you can use your Freedom Mailbox® address with no PMB number.

  • John Doe
  • Acme Inc.
  • 600 W Santa Ana Blvd Ste 114A
  • Santa Ana, CA 92701

When mail arrives without a PMB number, we still attempt to tag it based on the addressee name. This may cause a delay in processing to your account, but is the best option when you just can't include the PMB number anywhere else.

Understanding the PMB Number

The PMB (short for Private MailBox) number is actually NOT part of the mailing address for mail delivery purposes. The purpose of the PMB number is to allow Freedom Mailbox® to identify and tag the mail to the proper account once the mail is received. If the mail is never received, we don't know it exists. With that, the most important part of the address to get right is the street address, city, state and zip code. It is important not the alter this part of the address at all:

  • John Doe
  • Acme Inc.
  • PMB 999
  • 600 W Santa Ana Blvd Ste 114A
  • Santa Ana, CA 92701

Sometimes the addressee name and/or company is altered or uses a variant that is different than what we have listed on your account. Given this, the PMB number is the best and most efficient way for Freedom Mailbox® to identify your mail and tag it to your account.

  • John Doe
  • Acme Inc.
  • PMB 999
  • 600 W Santa Ana Blvd Ste 114A
  • Santa Ana, CA 92701
