Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For 2024
Adobe is a leading force in imagining the future of hybrid work: Its Lab82 internal experimentation engine, which started as a physical space at the company’s San Jose headquarters, has become a locus for researching the ways Adobe employees work. Setting aside resources for analyzing remote work has resulted in new strategies to more effectively integrate in-person and remote staff, including designated meeting facilitators and “stretch breaks” for well-being.
Saving resources—both internally and for clients—has emerged as a big priority for Adobe. It’s partnered with the Environmental Defense Fund and the Environmental Paper Network to create a tool that helps businesses make their operations more sustainable.
And in-house, Adobe has already met its 2025 Scope 1, Scope 2, and business travel emissions targets. Its Founders Tower office opened in January 2023, the first all-electric building of its scale powered by 100% renewable energy in Silicon Valley. Adobe expects to reach its 2035 climate targets by next year, a big step toward its goal of achieving net zero by 2050.

The software company with a focus on creativity lands on the Best Companies list because of its investment in its employees.
- While Bloomberg reported Adobe had laid off 100 salespeople in 2022, CFO Dan Durn told Fortune’s Sheryl Estrada in March 2023 that the company had no plans for widespread layoffs.
- Adobe prioritizes staff well-being through a reimbursem*nt program of up to $600 annually for employees and their immediate family members to cover expenses for a variety of wellness activities, from gym memberships and classes to athletic gear like running shoes or fitness-focused tech.
- Adobe invests in talent internally through Adobe Leadership Circles, where top women employees are paired with executive and peer coaches for development opportunities. In 2022, the program’s 10th year, 850 women participated worldwide.
- “I appreciate knowing that I will be respected and treated well regardless of a given hierarchy or reporting chain,” one Adobe employee notes, adding that there is a high level of investment in staff. “They ‘walk the talk,’ so to speak, which I appreciate.”

As Adobe connects creative content, data, and new technologies, the software company also makes work/life balance a priority for its 13,500 employees. Each year, there are two companywide shutdown weeks (in summer and winter), and Adobe offers employees a four- to six-week sabbatical for every five years of service. Other benefits include 200 hours of backup childcare support annually; fertility benefits up to $60,000; enhanced parental leave with up to 26 weeks fully paid; $25,000 toward eligible adoption expenses; and a $600 wellness reimbursem*nt fund. Among many DEI initiatives, the company’s eight employee resource groups help support staff from underrepresented backgrounds, and Adobe aims to increase representation of women in leadership positions to 30% globally by 2025 and to double representation of underrepresented minorities in leadership roles by that same year.
