Can you carry a white bag in winter? Yes. When it comes to seasonal appropriateness, there are no "rules" anymore. Just employ a little common sense.
For example, nowadays you can wear open-toe shoes all year round, but do so in the slushy aftermath of a Lake Michigan snow squall and, well, that's just stupid. Same thing goes for the white bag. Pair it with matching shoes and a lemon-yellow floral sundress in mid-December and -- ta da! -- you're a freak show. (In fact, that's even a little freaky in mid-April.)
Is a white bag the best choice for an all-season bag? No.
White is hardly practical and can be tricky to make work when the temps drop. In the winter, white works best as a little "pop" of color (or lack thereof).
Picture this: Some sexy skinny jeans tucked into a pair of high black boots worn with a graphic houndstooth coat and -- a white leather hobo bag. Crazy chic.
How do you choose one? Go expensive or go home. Even expensive white bags can look cheap. And cheap white bags can look tragic. This is one of those places where quality counts. Leather's your best bet, preferably with beautiful stitching and some modern hardware.
