Insight Rooms, a consumer analysis agency, studied how women socially engage with the Spanish retailer, according to their age.

The agency focused on women who engaged with Zara on social mediain a way that indicated they still shopped in the store.

It found thatengagement peaks at age 23 to 27, before "basically collapsing beyond", according to agency founder and CEOEd Dilworth.

By age 33, engagement falls to below 1 per cent, suggesting that those in their mid-30s no longer shopin Zara and go to rival brands for new apparel.

Dilworth told Who What Wear that the median drop-off age is 25, although Zara doesn't have as drastic an age cliff as other fast-fashion brands do.

He said: "Zara skews young, but the looks include more conservative and classic styles that stretch up into that older range more than the youth brands."

Zara, which was founded in Spain in 1975 and has more than 2,000 stores worldwide, is wildly popular with UK shoppers.

It has been praised for its fashion-forward trends, which are typicallygood-quality and affordable.

The £69.99 jacket, called the "frayed printed coat" is back in stock, butshoppers are being warned they'll have to be quick if they wantone, as they arepredicted to fly off the shelves.
