Ariana Grande’s latest beauty venture is now verified cruelty-free by Cruelty-Free Kitty. The singer has been vegan for years and is known for her animal activism, so it’s no surprise that her new beauty brand is in line with her values. R.E.M. Beauty offers vegan and cruelty-free makeup that is also ethically made in the USA, Italy, and Indonesia. The line includes everything from foundation to lipsticks, and it’s all available now on the R.E.M. Beauty website.
Our Cruelty-Free Criteria
At Cruelty-Free Kitty, we verify each brand added to our database in order to ensure that all brands are truly cruelty-free. After contacting R.E.M. Beauty, we're happy to confirm the following:
- R.E.M. beauty does not test finished products or ingredients on animals
- R.E.M. beauty's suppliers do not test finished products or ingredients on animals
- R.E.M. beauty does not allow any third-parties to test on animals on their behalf
- R.E.M. beauty does not test on animals where required by law
- R.E.M. beauty is not available in stores in countries which require animal testing
Claims On Their Website
On their website, the brand only makes the following claim in their FAQ regarding animal testing:
"We are happy to share that all of our products are cruelty-free."

Since the claim "cruelty-free" is not regulated, it's important to contact brands directly to ensure that they're truly cruelty-free according to the above criteria. Fortunately, in this case, the brand was able to back up its claim and answered all of our questions via email.
R.E.M. Beauty Is Also Vegan
In addition to being cruelty-free, R.E.M. beauty is also 100% vegan, meaning that their products are free from both animal testing and animal ingredients. The brand also claims that their ingredients are ethically-sourced, and all of their suppliers must adhere to a strict code of conduct which includes fair wages and working conditions for all workers.
