I'm sorry, what?
In a world where lame Instagram trends pop up every few weeks, I bring you the latest: Barbie feet!
Apparently, people are into the idea of having feet that look like Barbie’s—a.k.a. permanently arched and pointed. The practice was brought to light by Who What Wear UK, which says that lot of people on Instagram are mimicking Barbie’s feet in order to elongate their legs in barefoot photos. Sigh.
Compare this, of course, to what a Barbie doll looks like and you can see where the name comes from:
Who What Wear even offers up advice on how to “master” the pose:
"Act like you're wearing an invisible pair of high heels, even though there's nothing but air under your arches. From the front, it can be hard to tell you're doing anything at all, but from the side, you can see that you're balanced solely on the ball of your foot.”
If that sounds uncomfortable AF, you’d be right.
While this used to be a little photography trick that people did under the radar, some are specifically going for Barbie feet:
For the record, this is...pretty ridiculous. Is it worth having slightly more toned legs if you have to constantly stand on your toes? (Consider the fact that the real Barbie literally can't stand upright on her own.) Let’s throw this trend in with Toblerone tunnels and thigh gaps and give it a hard pass.
