How do I get 50% off my BART? ›

Clipper START is accepted by more than 20 regional transit operators in addition to BART. Fares will increase by 5.5% beginning January 1, raising the average fare by 23 cents to $4.43.

The entire trip takes about 45 minutes and costs only $6.55 one-way or $13.10 round trip. The AirBART shuttle departs every 15 minutes from the 3rd curb across from the terminals. When you get off the shuttle at the Coliseum BART station, buy a round trip BART ticket from the ticket machine.

A: BART fares are calculated on the distance traveled, and there are no "time-based" passes for BART. Shorter-distance riders would unfairly bear the burden of the trips taken by daily, long-distance riders using a monthly pass.

Youth & Senior Discount

Youth 5-18 years old get 50% off with a youth Clipper card. Seniors age 65 and over get 62.5% off with a Senior Clipper card.

Paying with Clipper

Clipper customers get discounts on one-way fares of 50 cents for adults, 25 cents for youth and 19 cents for senior and disabled riders. You need a cash value balance of at least $2.10 on an adult card, $1.05 on a Youth Clipper card and 75 cents on a Senior or RTC Clipper card.

BART is among the more affordable options. The Bay Area transportation network that was undesirable amid the pandemic, when everyone wanted to avoid crowded places, is appealing again.

You'll need to purchase a ticket at the station before riding BART. Your ticket can cover a single ride or multiple rides. Each person must have his or her own ticket, except children age 4 and under, who ride free and do not need a ticket.

The correct fare will be deducted automatically. If your card has too little value, a sign on the fare gate will tell you to go to a nearby Addfare vending machine where you can add enough value to your Clipper card to exit the BART system. Luggage may be stowed under your seat or held in your lap.

Can two people use the same card at the same time? No, every rider needs their own card or device (phone or watch) to pay for fares.

Can I use commuter card for BART? ›

(Due to IRS rule, you cannot use transit funds on your Commuter Check Card Prepaid MasterCard to pay for your parking and vice versa.) You can pay for your BART parking by placing a parking order at Commuter Check website for a Commuter Check Card Prepaid Mastercard.
