Mormon attitudes towards gender
Mormons believe that men and women are fully equal as the spirit children of God.
The place of woman in the Church is to walk beside the man, not in front of him nor behind him. In the Church there is full equality between man and woman.

Men and women have different responsibilities, which are complementary, not competing.
Men
Only a male Mormon can (and should) take on the duties of the priesthood.
But these duties include caring for the physical and emotional and intellectual and cultural well-being of his wife, and her spiritual development.
Men are expected to take an equal share with their wives in the care of babies, the nurturing of children, and the maintenance of the home.
Women
Although women can't be ordained to the priesthood, the Church has several organisations that are directed by women, and whose leaders regularly sit in council with priesthood leaders.
The biggest of these is the Relief Society, a world-wide women's organisation more than four million strong. Other organisations are the Young Women organisation, and the Primary organisation.
Mormon women have the specific responsibility to be righteous daughters of God; good, faithful wives; and loving mothers.
A woman should give her greatest priority to her home: her husband, her family, and the opportunity to child-bearing. That is her divine mission.
Belle S. Spafford, Relief Society General President
This role is broader than it sounds, since in a very real sense Mormon women see themselves as the ones who provide every aspect of motherhood to the whole Church community.
Mormon women are taught from a young age to prepare for marriage and looking after their home and family, as well as for any career they follow.
President Kimball advised that women should prepare themselves to be ready to earn their own living.
Mormon women are also urged and supported to get the best education that they can.
