Best vineyards near Paris (2024)

While in bustling Paris you probably feel miles away from the French wine country and its vineyards. Well, guess what? You’re not! There are numerous wineries near Paris. You can have a day trip to Champagne or to the Loire Valley, and still be sitting at the table of your favourite Parisian restaurant in the evening. Amazing right? Basically, you are just a few hours away from visiting historical cellars, tasting incredible wines and discovering the scenery of the French vineyards. Let me save you some time and give you the best wine regions near Paris.

From Paris to Champagne vineyards

1h30 drive

Yes! You did read Champagne, and yes, I’m talking about the delicately bubbled and refined white wine known by the world over! Champagne region is very close and easily accessible from Paris. In less than 2 hours’ drive you will discover the French countryside and arrive in the middle of incredibly scenic vineyards.

In one day, you have time to drive from Paris to Reims or Epernay (where most of the domaines are), visit 1 or 2 wineries, have lunch, enjoy 1 or 2 viewpoints, taste a looooot of Champagne, and drive back to Paris. It’s without saying a non-drinker has to be part of the group 😉

Who has never heard of the largest UNESCO World Heritage site in the world: Les Châteaux de la Loire; with its fairy tale castles such as Château de Chambord or Château de Chenonceau. Well, the Loire Valley is also home to the longest wine route in France. More than 300 winemakers are located along the Loire River, producing incredibly diverse wines. Reds, whites, rosés, but also sweet and dry wines. This is where you will find some of the top vineyards in France, and you can get a glimpse of it for one day out of Paris.

To get the most of the region in one day, I recommend driving from Paris to Loire Valley vineyards, enjoy a guided visit of a castle, and visit 1 or 2 wineries before driving back to Paris. You might even have time for a stop in the middle of the vineyards to check those vines up close.

From Paris to Normandy

1h30 drive

Best vineyards near Paris (3)

If you look at a map of the French vineyards, you won’t see Normandy because it produces beverages out of apples, and not grapes. The visit of a cider producer or a Calvados producer is the key to a perfect wine day tour close to Paris. Icing on the cake: it’s also where some of the most famous cheeses are made. Ever heard of camembert?!

On that day out of Paris to Normandy, I strongly advise you to have a look at a cider producer or a calvados producer, a cheese maker and have a stop by in the small fisherman village of Honfleur or the mythical town of Deauville. This will be a full day of delights to the palate and the eyes.
