Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Android (2024)

By default, Google Chrome blocks pop-ups from automatically showing up on your screen. When a pop-up is blocked, the address bar will be marked Pop-up blocked Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Android (1). You can also decide to allow pop-ups.

If you still get pop-ups after disabling them:

Turn pop-upson or off

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Android (2).
  2. To the right of the address bar, tap More Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Android (3) Settings.
  3. Tap PermissionsBlock or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Android (4) Pop-ups and redirects.
  4. Turn offPop-ups and redirects.

Allow pop-ups from a specific site

Not all pop-ups are ads or spam. Some legitimate websites display web content in pop-up windows.

  1. On your Android phone or tablet, open the Chrome app Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Android (5).
  2. Go to a page where pop-ups are blocked.
  3. At the bottom, tap Always show.

Allow or block notifications from a specific site

  1. On your Android device, open Chrome Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Android (6).
  2. Go to the site that you want to change notifications from.
  3. To the left of the address bar, tap Page info Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Android (7) Block or allow pop-ups in Chrome - Android (8) Permissions.
    • If a menu opens: Select the setting that you want to change.
    • If no menu opens: Permissions are in their original settings.
