  • Cardi B posted about "p—y wedgies" and yeast infections on Instagram.
  • According to Cardi, too-tight pants can cause a yeast infection (it's why she pulled her pants down to her thighs in the video).
  • Cardi's right. Among other things, tight-fitting pants can increase your risk of developing a yeast infection.

I don't need to tell you that Cardi B DGAF about oversharing on social media—even when it comes to her, uh, feminine problems.

So it shouldn't come as a surprise that the 26-year-old singer shared an Instagram video Wednesday night showing her pants pulled down to her thighs going off about "p—y wedgies." Why tho? To avoid yeast infections, obviously.

"These pants is too motherf—ing tight. S— was giving my p—y a wedgie!" she said in the video (which has been viewed more than 19 million times because, let's be honest, it's Cardi).

"I hate having p—y wedgies, bro," she continued. "My p—y be screamin’ at me like, ‘Bitch, you got me f—ed up. You want a yeast infection, bitch? You want a f— ing yeast infection?’ You know what I’m sayin?"

Is Cardi right? Can you get a yeast infection from too-tight pants?

Let’s back up for a second. A vagin*l yeast infection is an infection caused by an overgrowth of the fungus Candida albicans, per the U.S. National Library of Medicine (NLM). The fungus actually lives in your vagin* (and in your mouth, and on your skin) already, but can sometimes grow out of control in the right conditions (wet, moist) and cause an infection.

You’ve probably dealt with this at some point (most women have, TBH), but if you’re lucky enough to have missed this, symptoms generally include a cottage cheese-like discharge, itching and burning in your vagin*, pain during sex, pain when you pee, and redness and swelling of your vulva, according to the NLM.

As for whether or not tight pants can cause a yeast infection, well, they definitely can. The NLM recommends that you avoid wearing tight-fitting pants or shorts to lower your risk of developing a yeast infection. Tight clothing can cause irritation and sweating, which could allow yeast to thrive.

There are, of course plenty of other ways to lower your risk of developing a yeast infection, like avoiding douching, eating yogurt with live cultures, wearing cotton underwear, and changing out of wet bathing suits and exercise clothes as soon as you can, according to the NLM.

But, uh, if you find your new fave jeans are giving you a "p—y wedgie," maybe take a pass...or at least buy a looser pair. Or, you know, you could always pull 'em down to your thighs à la Cardi. She knows it looks weird AF, but as she said: "P—y be breathin', tho."
