So, technically, this is book 5 of the series, and I haven’t read Court (book 4 of the series). The contents of this book takes place between Crave and Crush when Grace and Hudson were stuck together in Grace’s mind. Throughout the rest of the books in the series we get references from Hudson and Grace from their time together, but Hudson is the only one who remembers where Grace doesn’t have any recollection of it.
Charm is told from alternating POVs which is exactly what I needed because HUDSON VEGA is everything. Even if I had totally shipped Grace and Jaxon, I would have been like, so Jaxon, I like Hudson better. But, I was already in love with Hudson before going into this book and fell in love even harder.
Not only do we find out what Grace and Hudson went through, we also find out a lot more about the trauma that Hudson went through because of his father Cyrus. Hudson has been able to turn off his emotions from a young age only caring about survival, but with being stuck with Grace, he starts to rehumanize somewhere along the way. At first he starts to pick at Grace to see if he can get free from her mind, but they are forced to work together to get away from a dragon that is out to kill Grace. They are forced to leave Hudson’s lair and travel across a purple world where they stumble across a farm in the middle of nowhere where the couple have to stay for a couple of nights before the word of the Queen coming to kill them catches up making them move again with Hudson working overtime to keep Grace safe from the hands of death.
As they come to the town, they slowly find a semblance of normal with jobs and living together in a small hotel type room and fall into a normal routine while even making friends. But the tension between Grace and Hudson is reaching its boiling point despite Hudson figuring out that Grace is his mate but wanting her to come to that realization and her feeling for him being real instead of the force of the bond interfering.
This book is my absolute favorite out of all of the books because it’s basically just Grace and Hudson. If all 5 of the books were only about them and their adventures, I would have absolutely been fine with that because they have a witty banter that works for them and we get to see them fall in love. There were so many times where we see Hudson slowly start to fall for Grace but don’t know how to approach his feels and ends up being snide while Grace gives it back to him yet still showing the caring side to him.
Charm just made my heart so happy and full with getting a whole book dedicated to these to characters!
