You don't have to scroll far on social media these days to see that '80s fashion is back in a big way. Dynasty-era shoulder pads and puff sleeves, button earrings, polka dots, oversized fur coats—they're absolutely everywhere this season. But there just so happens to be another retro-inspired look making its way back in the trend cycle, and let's just say, we certainly didn't see it in our 2024 bingo card: colorful tights.
Before you shrug us off, hear us out. Yes, bold hosiery is polarizing, but the designers and fashion girlies of the internet are onto something. When paired with the right outfit, a striking pair of nylons can add oomph. Take the LBD for instance: sure, you can always keep your look classic with sheer black tights and pumps, but incorporating an opaque red instead can instantly up the interest factor. Or how about a tonal cream ensemble? Mocha brown tights go excellently with a matching dress as white tights do with cream outfits.
