Daith – Amato Piercing (2024)

Daith piercings are done through the ridge of tissue that connects the forward helix to the bowl of the ear. It was first recorded as being pierced in the 90’s by Eric Dakota who pronounced it “doth” (like goth) but can also be said “daith” (like faith). These are very versatile piercings that can wear jewelry from simple plain rings to larger more elegant pieces. They end up naturally framed and also protected by the rest of the ear. With the right anatomy some folks can even get a double daith! These are a fairly advanced piercing. When done correct they are beautiful, but when done on poor angles they are very prone to irritation bumps and migration. It’s important to have the correct placement, and also the correct jewelry. Most commonly a larger diameter ring is used initially. When too small of a ring is used it can cause pressure and irritation. Curved barbells should never be used as they rotate inward to the ear canal, and cause irritation bumps and issues healing.
