As fans well know,Escape the Fate oustedfounding member/frontman Ronnie Radke following his 2008 prison sentence forparole violation, leaving Radke to start a new post-hardcore outfit—Falling In Reverse—shortly after his 2010 release. Since then, both sides have expressedharsh words over the acrimonious split.
But the hard feelings between former bandmates couldn't lastforever, and the former and current frontmen of Escape the Fate made amendslast year and kicked off the Bury the Hatchet Tour in early 2014. Fuserecently spoke to current ETF singer Craig Mabbitt about how reuniting withRadke has made him happier than he's been in years, but why the band's formerlead guitarist is not welcome back into the fold.
Mabbitt says the Bury the Hatchet Tour idea was suggested byRadke. "I think he was sick of hearing about [our feud] so he got intouch with me and said, 'Hey man, water under the bridge. No more hate, no moreanimosity. How funny would it be if we toured together?' And I said, 'I'vealways thought that would be a great idea, I think the fans would love it.' Andthen it came," Mabbitt says.
"When I flew to his house to announce the tour, that wasthe first time I'd seen him in seven or eight years. We could've help but smileat each other. Like, why did we hate each other at some point in time?"Mabbitt explains. "I can't remember the last time I've been this happy on the road.We work out and hang out and laugh. It's comfortable. Before there was something…off."
Although Mabbitt and Radke are friends again, the Escape theFate's singer doesn't think he could reunite with guitarist Monte Money aftertheir split last year. "He's the kind of person who poisons himself andexpects you to die from it," Mabbitt says. "I hate talking bad about him, because he's a talented, talented musician, but he's gotta figure himself out."
