ZEISS Quality

This symbol is your promise of guaranteed quality.

The discreet laser engraving in the form of a “Z” on the lenses guarantees the authenticity of your ZEISS precision lenses and thus optimal wearing comfort.

This premium quality is the result of excellent technical expertise.

  • The purity of the raw materials is ensured by innovative filter technologies.
  • Premium quality is guaranteed by very stringent quality control.
  • Optimal light transmission is ensured by high-performance anti-reflective coating technologies.

Every lens delivered to the optician under the mark "ZEISS" is engraved with our trademark "Z" as proof of the excellent lens quality. In the course of cutting, edging and fitting the lenses into the frame, the engraving may be removed. In case the Z-engraving is missing on your ZEISS lenses, please ask your optician for the ZEISS warranty certificate.

Cleaning

The right way to clean your spectacles

It takes only a second – a greasy fingerprint suddenly appears on your lens, debris and dust make it harder for you to see or moisture creates film that fogs up your glasses.

What now?
Your first choice for cleaning your lenses should be microfiber cloths (e.g. by ZEISS). They remove grease and moisture without scratching your glasses or leaving marks. To clean your glasses, first rinse them under running water to remove dust and rough debris. Next, add a pH-neutral dishwashing detergent to the water, rinse again and gently dry the lenses with a microfiber cloth (never rub hard).

Tip:
Practical tools for your daily eyewear care are special lens-cleaning supplies (available in spray form or as wipes, e.g. by ZEISS). These will clean your lenses thoroughly without damaging them. They also have an anti-static effect, which helps your glasses to stay clear longer because they do not collect as much dust and debris. Scratches are impossible to remove from both plastic and glass lenses once they are there, so it is best to prevent them.

Cleaning recommendation:

Wash microfiber cloths at temperatures not to exceed 40° C and do not add fabric softener, as this could cause your cloth to leave streaks the next time you clean your glasses!

Transport

Your glasses need a home of their own. A hard case is the best place for your glasses whenever you are not wearing them. If you lay them down somewhere and do not have the case handy, make sure the place is safe and that the lenses are facing upward at all times.

Please note that lenses made of plastic material should not be exposed to high temperatures or significant fluctuations in temperature. This could have an adverse impact on the durability of the coating (for instance, on the anti-reflective coating). Extreme temperature fluctuations may also cause ruptures due to the different structures of the base glass and coating. However, no negative effects have been observed in ZEISS lenses during exposure to winter temperatures below freezing.

FAQs

  • Most wearers experience no difficulties with progressive lenses from ZEISS Vision Care or need only a short time to adapt to them. It helps to wear the new glasses constantly and “practice” a bit, keeping the following tips in mind:

Read a text keeping your head relatively straight at first and slowly lowering your gaze. Then you’ll see clearly through the lower part of the lens. When you turn your head to the side, the text will slowly move out of focus. The lateral areas of the progressive lenses can be used for orientation; to see clearly, look straight at the text. When you raise your eyes again after reading, you’ll be looking through the distance zone of the progressive lenses and you’ll see things clearly at a distance. Look out of the window and tilt your head backwards. The image will become blurry, because you are no longer looking through the distance zone of the lenses. Move your head back into the normal position and you’ll see clearly again.Learn more

Look at something at an intermediate distance, such as a computer screen. By moving your head up and down slightly, you’ll quickly find the area of the lenses that corresponds to that distance. After a short familiarisation period, you’ll automatically look through the right parts of the lenses.

  • In general: People who have never worn glasses or glasses with progressive lenses need a bit of time to get accustomed to them.

Progressive lenses enable you to see clearly at all distances. The zones for different distances transition continuously from one to the other, which enables you to see every single detail up close and at a distance without any image jump. Wear your glasses continuously when you are getting used to them.

The change to glasses with progressive lenses can also be more difficult if you have had vision problems for a longer period of time without wearing glasses at all. The vision centre of your brain must initially become accustomed to the new conditions.

Should you still be dissatisfied and your vision does not improve, have your eye care professional check the lenses on-site to ensure that the corrective powers correspond to the prescription and that the lenses are properly centred.

  • Before delivery, all ZEISS branded lenses are marked with the ZEISS Clarity quality seal, the Z-engraving trademark. In bifocal, trifocal and progressive lenses, this trademark is positioned so that it is most likely still visible after glazing. Due to the centreing and glazing data required for the glazing of single vision lenses, the trademark may no longer be visible in the lens after edging.

The engraved ZEISS guarantees the high quality of the ZEISS lens as well as important features distinguishing them from no-name lenses.

ZEISS Vision Care is certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 9001/2000. This certification goes far beyond the minimum statutory requirements for the CE mark and includes high quality standards for the product as well as especially tough requirements for employee qualification. Moreover, ZEISS Vision Care conducts during the production process exquisite internal test specifications.

We guarantee that the quality of the optimal imaging takes priority over all other product criteria.

With regard to the distribution of the lenses from ZEISS Vision Care, we ensure that they are fitted exclusively by qualified eye care professionals.

The Z is engraved with a laser in a non-contact process on the back surface at a precisely defined distance from the optical reference point. The laser is operated with a wavelength that permits only a low level of penetration, so that the laser symbol is visible to the viewer, but does not irritate the wearer looking through the lens.

  • The warranty applies to all lenses that bear the trademark. Should you be dissatisfied with the optical performance of the lens within 12 months after purchasing your glasses, we will exchange it for another type of lens with the same corrective powers from the ZEISS Vision Care lens range. Please get in touch with your Eye Care Practitioner for the same.

An exchange in terms of value is not possible; in the event of a higher-quality product, an additional charge may be incurred. The warranty does not cover exchanges for cosmetic reasons, reasons of weight or improper handling.

How can ZEISS Vision Care help me with warranty claims?
Please contact an eye care professional. He or she is the right partner to assist you.

  • ZEISS Vision Care supplies its products exclusively to specialist opticians.
