But one thing that has got people's attention in the recent past is Kim and Khloe Kardashian's drastic weight loss. While Kim had earlier declared that she lost 16lbs in just three weeks to wear Marilyn Monroe's famous crystal embellished Jean Louis dress at the Met Gala back in May, Khloe Kardashian revealed that she lost 60 pounds after having given birth to her daughter. Although the Kardashians have time and again vouched for a healthy lifestyle, working out regularly and eating a balanced, hearty diet, many have come to fore, criticizing them for introducing extreme dieting methods and setting unrealistic beauty standards. As per reports, Kim Kardashian is said to have lost about 70 pounds by following Atkin’s 40 plan. "I did a strict Atkins diet. Strict, strict, strict," the mother of three said in an interview. The Atkins diet is a low carb diet which was introduced in the 1960s by cardiologist Robert C Atkins. According to the Mayo Clinic, "The Atkins Diet restricts carbs (carbohydrates) while focusing on protein and fats." "The purpose of the Atkins Diet is to change your eating habits to help you lose weight and keep it off. The Atkins Diet also says it's a healthy lifelong approach to eating. It says it's a healthy approach whether you want to lose weight, boost your energy or improve health problems, such as high blood pressure or metabolic syndrome," the health body further explains. On the other hand, Khloe Kardashian had told People magazine that she went on a dairy-free, low-carb diet, which includes a healthy amount of protein and carbs before working out. This type of diet can be achieved by having a variety of proteins like meat, seafood, eggs, nuts & seeds and feasting on low-carb veggies and using oils, avocado, coconut and olives for additional fats. Both the Kardashian sisters are workout-enthusiasts and resort to consistent, daily exercise routine. According to Melissa Alcantara, Kim K's personal trainer, the billionaire works out six days a week, with no excuses. Kim has previously revealed that she wakes up at around 5:30am to exercise, and according to E!, she said, "I work out about an hour-and-a-half every single day, heavy weights, I don't do a lot of cardio." "I've been working out really hard-core with a bodybuilder for one year," she adds. The youngest of the Kardashian sisters, Khloe trains under Gunner Peterson.
