Why was Faith Fraser stillborn? ›

Faith Fraser was Claire and Jamie's stillborn first child. She was born in Paris, France, following a dangerous pregnancy. Mother Hildegarde had her buried in the cemetery at L'Hôpital des Anges. Following Claire's dangerous pregnancy, Faith was stillborn in Paris at L'Hôpital des Anges.

Claire visits Faith's grave, where she leaves a single pink tulip from Jared's conservatory, and is surprised at how emotional she feels after all this time.

The nurse was rushed to the L'Hôpital des Anges where her baby was stillborn, leaving Claire devastated. She named the baby girl Faith and the infant was buried by the nuns in the hospital's cemetery.

I'm rewatching all the seasons and this episode never fails to hit me right in the feels. From when Claire arrives home to her comforting Fergus later.

Claire Rescues Jamie & Finds Out She Is Pregnant With Jamie's Child. After a raid goes poorly, Jamie is captured by redcoats, escapes, and is then recaptured. While imprisoned, Jamie is tortured and raped by Randall.

Claire pursued them but arrived too late, able only to witness which of her husbands—Jamie or Frank—might die. During the fight, Claire suffered a miscarriage and later convalesced at L'Hôpital des Anges and Fontainebleau.

While it's easy to love Claire and Jamie when they're in love, it's another thing to see Balfe's character reveal she “hated” Jamie for the events leading up to her tragic miscarriage of their first daughter.

At the end of Season 13, she learned that she's pregnant. In Season 14, it is revealed she's pregnant with Eli's son, who was supposed to be named Adam but she later miscarried.
