We’ve all heard comedy’s exaggerated take on the Wisconsin accent, to which we say, “What Wisconsin accent? We don’t have an accent.”
But here’s a fresh approach: avampire from Staten Island, New York, doing a Wisconsin accent for laughs.
During this week’s Season 4 premiere of “What We Do inthe Shadows,” the FX/Hulu sitcomabout vampire roommates navigating modern life onStaten Island, Nandor (played by British actor Kayvan Novak) recounts the travels of his "Eat PreyLove" journey, where he meta nice family from Wisconsin on the train in Fresno, California.
We know they’re from Wisconsin, because Dad is wearing a Green Bay Packers T-shirt and their tour of roadside tourist attractions includes a stop at the one withthe giantcow.
“They were quite endearing and they had a very particular way of speaking,” Nandor says of the family of four, before launching into his impressionof how they talk.“Ooooh, hey dere, Nandor, do you wanna come see da Packers ... on the frozen tundra of da Lambeauuuuu Field?”

William Hughes of The A.V.Club pointed it out as one of the funniest moments of the "Reunited" episode. “I’ve listened to Novak’s ‘Hey dere Nandor!’ about 20 times now and it hasn’t stopped making me laugh,” he wrote in his recap.
"What We Do in the Shadows" received seven Emmy Award nominations this week, including Outstanding Comedy Series. New episodes air Tuesdays on FX and then stream Wednesdayson Hulu.
