GCP "Resort Elegant" - what does that mean?
Save
We've booked 5 nights at the GCP in early April. I've been checking the website and reading up. I can't wait to go!! Would you frequent visitors help me avoid a "fashion crisis" and give me a better idea of what "resort elegant" really means? What can I expect to see people wearing in the evenings?
Many thanks!!

Resort elegant would be a shirt with a collar for men, like a nice polo, a Tommy Bahama type shirt or a linen shirt and pressed khakis or nice dress shorts. For women, a nice sundress (not the beach kind) or capris and a blouse- similar to what you would wear to a summer wedding. Some dress up more- but no t-shirts or ultra casual clothes.
When my husband were there last August we had fun dressing up for the ala cart restaurants we went to- some people say they don't like to dress up on vacation but I think it makes it more special when you do, more romantic even. We do not get the opportunity to dress up that much so I finally got to wear a couple of my cute long summer dresses and dancing shoes:)

Resort Casual
Sneakers/ tennis shoes or sandals, dress shirts with sleeves, dress Bermuda, shorts or pants for men. No sleeveless shirts or flip-flops
Resort Elegant
Long pants and collar shirt required for men. Shoes or dress sandals. For women blouses, skirts, slacks or dresses, dress shoes or dress sandal. jeans and Tennis shoes are not accepted
This comes verbatim from the Golden Crown Paradise website. Please have a great time and enjoy yourselves. I will be returning to the GCP for my eighth trip soon.

Thanks for the info so far. PVFunLover - can you give examples of what people wear to the restaurants? I read the descriptions but that still doesn't mean much to me.

As a 10 time repeater to the Golden, here is what we wear for dinner at the ala cartes. Men: long pants (linen or cotton and have even seen jeans a few times) Men can not wear open toed sandals. Shirts: Resort type (either solid color or printd) made to be worn outside the pants (not tucked in), also golf or polo type shirts with collars and even the latest trend in golf wear ( solid color tee shirts of a nicer fabric - but no Nascar designs). Ladies: dresses of any length (usually the sun dress type), capri pants or a longer style short (knee length) with a nice top. Sandals with open toes ok for ladies.
At breakfast and lunch, men wear shorts and even swim trunks with a tee or tank top. Ladies also swim suits with a cover up. Very informal then.
Enjoy your time there. GCPGAL and her group will be there in early April. We will be there for 2 weeks starting April 19.

We just got back from GCP on March 10th for the forth time and they seem to be kinda loose on the restrictions for what you can wear to the a la carte. We saw women in there that looked like they just came from the beach wearing swim suit type cover up dresses that you could see through to their bathing suits and flip flops, and men were wearing open toed sandals and jeans. It really took away the atmosphere of the restaurant.

Welcome to trip advisor. Rather then dig up a year old post, you can just start a new one with your question. Have you checked with yor resort's web site to see what they call "resort elegant". I would guess they mean dresses of knee length or longer and not minis. But just a guess. And not the ones that can double as beach cover ups.
