It is possible to change your gender in game. Simply delete the character and make a new one of the opposite gender. It doesn't take very long to level a new character these days. 
I've done that at least twice - except I didn't delete the originals, I just ended up with 16 characters.

Obviously, BW is staffed with sis-gendered, hom*ophobic, transphobic, patriarchal white males. And, oh yes, don't forget "nazis" - everyone's a nazi.
