Appearance

Gun has a figure similar to most of the prominent fighters within the series. He is a very tall and lean-yet-muscular individual who is always dressed well, usually donning colors of dark fashion and designer brands. His hair is shaved on the sides but long on top, and has always been seen with it slicked back.

Gun Park (1)

He is usually seen wearing full-rimmed glasses to hide the scar stretching between his eyes. Gun's facial appearance changes drastically when he takes off his glasses. He has many scars across his body, and tattoos on his arms. On his chest is a long, horizontal scar given by Eli Jang.[3]He also has a scar given by Jerry Kwon.[4]

Gun's most distinguishing trait is his pitch black eyes with white irises, a result of him being constantly in the state of Ultra Instinct.

Personality

Gun is usually seen as a highly composed man who is quite dedicated to his job as a bodyguard. He maintains a stern-looking expression on his face that exhibits a smile only when amused, usually by someone's fighting potential. This was most likely picked up from Tom Lee, who raised/trained him throughout his childhood, like his partner and rival Goo Kim, he is merciless when agitated and fighting—as seen during his fight with Jake. Gun stated he would knock out all of Jake's teeth, which he indeed ending up doing without much trouble. Unlike Goo Kim, Gun will remove his glasses when he's about to exhibit his demonic side, causing many to refer to him as a 'Monster'.

Gun is stated to be a "pervert" with whom gender is of no concern for his attraction by Goo. The nebulous nature of Goo's statement could refer to literal sexual attraction or a more idiosyncratic "attraction" to strong fighters. This would be substantiated by Gun's constant seeking of a successor which would explain his "attraction" to strong people regardless of gender.

Fighting Prowess

Gun has shown consistently to be one of the strongest characters in the series, and in the entire PTJ verse. He has a mixed fighting style with complete mastery of Kyokushin karate, high proficiency in Aikido, and Capoeira as shown when Olly identified one of Johan Seong's copied moves from Gun,[5] his fight with Goo Kim[6] and his Brazilian kick.[7] He is also shown to be proficient enough in weapons to fight using tonfas[8] and to teach Eli Jang how to use stun batons.

Gun has also displayed formidable physical capabilities with him being able to stagger Vasco with a punch, fast enough to avoid hits from Zack Lee and durable enough to withstand a couple of hits from Eli Jang and come out of it only being slightly annoyed. He has shown to be so skilled that he defeated Johan Seong easily[9] and defeat all of the original Hostel B when he stopped holding back[10] which included strong fighters like Warren Chae, Eli Jang and Max, and Derek. He also was able to defeat Jake,[11] the head of Big Deal and train many fighters.

He is also seen completely defeating hundreds of experienced and weaponized adult criminals included members of organised crime when he was 16, alongside a 16 year old Goo Kim.[8] Even though he claims he's not familiar with weapons, he still shows to be very proficient in them, using Goo's ski sticks as batons (most likely Gun's statement of not being proficient as weapons is only in comparison to Goo who is a weapons expert).

It is a later confirmed that Gun is also in the Ultra Instinct state though maintaining said state whilst retaining his control and personality.[12]

A recent display of Gun's combat prowess, was him able to defeat strongest members of the Workers that includes Yuseong, Mandeok Bang, Eli Jang, Warren Chae, and Ryuhei Kuroda with little to no effort. He has also been confirmed to be stronger than the 1st Generation Kings.

Quotes

  • “Funny... there was a man who messed with my shades before but no one has ever messed with my hair.”[10]
  • "It was better than... the best night I had with any women."[12]
  • "You pleased me with your body. I should pay you for that."[12]

Etymology

Japanese

  • The name Yuzuru means "tie, bind" (結) (yu) and "bowstring, chord, hypotenuse" (弦) (zuru).

Trivia

  • He is often seen saying "Ganbare"(がんばれ), a Japanese phrase that translates to "good luck". This phrase has been repeated by multiple other characters in the story who have come into contact with him.
  • Gun has a strict level of morality/rules to himself and his successor such as not being involved in any illegal activities.
    • Previous candidates: Johan, Jake, Olly, Samuel and Eli
    • Potential Candiates/Succesors: Daniel Park
  • So far, Gun has not been defeated by any of his challengers. He claimed that he let Eli go on purpose making their fight's result remain unclear. The ones who pose the highest threats include the other fighting legend, Goo Kim, Jake Kim, Daniel (in an unconscious state), and Tom Lee.
  • He appears to have a history in Japan and is recognized by the Yakuza as "White Ghost".
  • Gun's sexuality is implied to be ambiguous on one occasion.
    • Goo has stated that Gun is a "pervert" who doesn't concern himself with the gender of the person he is attracted to.
  • He has poor handwriting.[13]
  • The official Japanese game information itself stated the height is 190cm[14].
  • Gun Park has been named by the author as a member of the 1.5th generation, a group of fighters who rose before the 2nd generation but after the 1st generation.[15]
  • While he has undeniable strong links to Japan, making him most probably Japanese; his nationality isn't formally confirmed, thus still making it possible for him to be Korean and just happen to have family links with Japan.
  • Gun is not 20+ like many think. In Episode 38 he is stated to be the same age as the seniors (who are 18-19), and one year has passed since then meaning he is now 19-20. He is more likely to be 19, however, since his work is not for minors (under 20) and Goo stated he would be unemployed once he turns 20,[16] so the same is likely for Gun.
