In 2021, the baby food companies Maple Island Inc. and Beech-Nut Nutrition Company voluntarily recalled multiple lines of their products.

While the former recalled three lots of Parent’s Choice Rice Baby Cereal because of high levels of arsenic, the latter recalled one lot of Beech-Nut Stage 1, Single Grain Rice Cereal for the same reason. Furthermore, it also decided to exit the baby food market. The products recalled by Maple Island Inc. are 8 oz. lots that were sold after April 5, 2021, more specifically:

  • Lot 21083 with UPC Code #00681131082907 with a best if used by date of JUN 24 2022
  • Lot 21084 with UPC Code #00681131082907 with a best if used by date of JUN 25 2022
  • Lot 21242 with UPC Code #00681131082907 with a best if used by date of NOV 30 2022

The products recalled by Beech-Nut Nutrition Company had UPC Code# 52200034705 and 01 MAY 2022 as expiration dates, with the codes 103470XXXX and 093470XXXX. Until now, these are the only baby food products that have been the subject of a recall in the U.S.
