An inspirational American success story, Nordic Ware was founded in 1946 by a determined gal, Dotty, and her resourceful husband Dave, who was newly back from WWII. With $500 in their pockets, a few good ideas and a desire to start a business of their own, a humble kitchenware company was born in the basem*nt of their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In the beginning, Nordic Ware’s product line was only a handful of items, most of which were specialty Scandinavian cookware products—the Rosette iron, Krumkake iron, Platte Panne pan, and the Ebelskiver pan. But times have changed!

75+ years later, with a good measure of perseverance added, Nordic Ware is still proudly manufacturing the vast majority of its products in Minneapolis. Those original Scandinavian products have been joined by hundreds of other items in Nordic Ware’s product offering, ranging from bakeware and cookware to microwave products and grilling accessories. We’ve grown from two employees to hundreds, and our products are distributed across the globe. We’re proud to say that we’re still family-owned and operated, with three generations involved in our business, and each year we add innovative items to our expansive kitchenware line.

Undoubtedly, Nordic Ware’s most famous item is the Bundt® pan, which can be found in over 75 million households around the world. Few realize the name “Bundt” was coined and trademarked by our co-founder, Dave Dalquist, to describe the fluted design of the company’s unique ring cake pan. This original Bundt® pan featured a distinctive hole in the center that allowed cakes to bake evenly, and an elegant symmetry that made cutting and serving easy . Despite a lackluster launch in the early 1950s, the original Bundt® pan rose to fame when it was used to bake a prize-winning cake in a national baking contest, and the rest, as they say, is history. The pan has found its way into the hearts and homes of people world-wide, and Bundt® cakes have become a beloved tradition for countless gatherings and family celebrations. With recipes ranging “from the sublime to the ridiculous” and a myriad delightful collectible designs, Bundt cakes are truly the quintessential American dessert.

FAQs

Is Nordic Ware still made in the USA? ›

Over 300 products proudly made in our Minneapolis US Factory.

Is Nordic Ware aluminum or stainless steel? ›

Naturals® Nonstick Baker's Half Sheet | Aluminum Bakeware | Nordic Ware.

Do Nordic Ware pans need to be greased? ›

Before baking, grease the pan using one of two methods: 1. Apply a thin coating of solid vegetable shortening (such as “Crisco”), then dust the surface lightly with flour (“Wondra” flour works best). For pans with intricate designs, a baking spray works well to get into all the nooks and crannies.

Does Nordic Ware need to be seasoned? ›

As our products are made from cast aluminium rather than cast iron, you do not need to do a one-time seasoning of your new Nordic Ware pan. Please see our use and care instructions on each product page for all that you'll need to know about caring for your pan.

Why is Nordic Ware so expensive? ›

The Nordic Ware baking sheets usually retail for around $30 for two pans. This is a little more expensive than some other brands, but the Nordic Ware's durability and sturdiness justify the price.

Can I put my Nordic Ware bundt pan in the dishwasher? ›

For best results and longevity of your pans, we recommend hand washing using mild detergent.

Does Nordic Ware warp? ›

We've also found that the Nordic Ware pans we've had in our rotations long term can be prone to slight warping at the center over the years, but not so much so that it's become an issue. Like most sheet pans, this one needs to be hand-washed, but it likely wouldn't fit well in most home dishwashers, anyway.

Why are my Nordic Ware pans oxidizing? ›

Aluminum pans put through a dishwasher can come out looking etched and matte instead of shiny, thanks to oxidation. That won't affect performance, though Nordic Ware still recommends hand-washing. Bar Keepers Friend can help bring back some of the shine if your pan has gone through the dishwasher.

Can Nordic Ware go in the oven? ›

Oven-safe to 400 degrees F.

Does Nordic Ware use teflon? ›

Teflon ® is a registered trademark of DuPont and refers to a specific nonstick coating that they exclusively manufacture. Teflon® is not used by Nordic Ware for any consumer cookware or bakeware finishes at this time.

Why is my Nordic Ware bundt pan sticking? ›

We recommend only using baking spray with flour in it. Please do NOT use a regular cooking spray because it tends to leave a sticky residue on the pan, and the cake may stick. The residue left on the pan may be very difficult to clean completely.

Is Nordic Ware toxic free? ›

Meeting and exceeding US environmental regulations for air and water, using BPA-free and melamine-free materials in our products, and using nonstick coatings that are water-based rather than solvent-based are just a handful of the ways that Nordic Ware participates in being sustainable.

Can you use bar keepers friend on Nordic Ware? ›

Cleaning Care

Nylon and mesh scouring pads are effective in cleaning as well. Bar Keepers Friend® is an effective abrasive cleaning agent for tough stains and will clear up discoloration. Scrub in a swirling motion. Use steel wool pads to remove stubborn stains.

Can you use cooking spray on Nordic Ware? ›

For best results and longevity of your pan, do not use aerosol “cooking” sprays on Nordic Ware cookware. These sprays can leave a residue that is very difficult to remove from the pan.

Can you bake with Nordic Ware? ›

Nordic Ware's Ultimate Bundt® Baking Guide

With the proper steps to prepare the pan and cleaning afterwards, that nervous feeling goes away, and we know with confidence that the cake will flip out cleanly every time.

What cookware is made in the USA? ›

American-Made Non Stick Cookware
