How you apply your fragrance can make a big difference to how it comes across to others, and learning how to apply perfume correctly, and how to check and correct if you have gone overboard, can save you precious time in a pinch as well as conserving your perfume stash.
Too little will go unnoticed, and too much will attract attention for all the wrong reasons, as well as getting up your own nose – but how many sprays is too many?
We recommend no more than 5, no less than 2 and space them out (wrists, neck and body) to make the scent even. This depends on the intensity of the fragrance you are using, and obviously these rules can be bent if you are combining perfumes. This also only really applies to your initial spray. You may want to top up later, and you should always aim to use a little less on these occasions.
Phone a Friend
If you’ve had a spray and you want to check yourself, the easiest way is to ask a friend to stand about 3 feet away and ask if they can smell your scent. If they can, at that distance it should be very light and faint. If you don’t have anyone available to help, there are still ways you can tell if you have over or underdone it.
First of all, can you smell your scent strongly when you are stood or sat still? That’s a sign you may have had 1 squirt too many. If this is the case, washing the sprayed areas with warm water and a little soap will give you a clean slate. If the perfume is on your clothes (which we do not recommend) you may need to get changed.
