If you’re looking to re-upholster a piece of furniture, it can be tricky to work out how much upholstery fabric you need for the project. Your upholsterer will advise how much they require to do the work, once they receive measurements and photos or view the piece in person. Quantities will depend on the fabric you choose, as you may need more to allow for pattern matching if using a patterned fabric. If you’re doing the work yourself, then here’s an approximate guide to estimate how much upholstery fabric to order. We always stress that this is a rough guide, and amounts are not exact as each piece of furniture and fabric is different.
