The once-maligned sweater is cooler than ever in 2018.

Some refer to it as a roll neck or a polo neck (we're looking at you, Brits), but for the majority of us, this cozy piece of knitwear is affectionately known as the turtleneck. From Warren Beatty to Shaft, the turtleneck became a staple men’s style starting back in the '50s and clear through the '70s. It tapered off in the '80s, '90s, and 2000s—but it has slowly made it into today’s menswear scene.

Personally, I despised turtlenecks when I was younger. That is, until one faithful day in high school when a crush told me I look cute in my off-white turtleneck sweater. Fast-forward 1o years and the turtleneck has re-emerged as the style swerve to upgrade any outfit. A turtleneck can add an unexpected twist to a dinner jacket or a bit of refinement to distressed jeans and Chelsea boots. Before you reach for your favorite button up, it might be time to give the turtleneck a try. Plus, it’s cold out there—so protect your neck.

Here are 10 of our favorite turtlenecks to buy right now, at every price point.
