On moving day there are a several tools you can’t live without – one of these is a dolly. Dollies allow individuals to move extremely heavy items without the help of a crew. In turn, this not only makes your move go by quicker, but it also relieves the pain carrying heavy boxes and furniture can causeon your back.
U-Haul has three rental dollies available for customers to take for any given number of days. They each serve a unique purpose and you don’t necessarily need to rent all three for your move. Choosing the right dolly will depend on what items you plan on moving.
Utility Dolly
This is the all-purpose dolly. It’s ideal for moving anything from boxes to small furniture and appliances. For my move, I mostly used this to move multiple boxes at a time to and from the moving truck. Just keep in mind that it has a 600lb capacity, so if you’re moving extremely heavy furniture or appliances, you should consider a different dolly.
Appliance Dolly
Here, the name says it all. This is the best option when moving refrigerators, washers, and stoves. If you’re moving into a home where you need to bringin new appliances, this dolly will help you move them with ease. This way you can feel comfortable moving them on your own and not risk dropping them.
Furniture Dolly
This is the only dolly of the group and doesn’t come with a handle. It’s a flat dolly with four wheels that allows you to easily place any size furniture over top. Once you load your furniture on, all you have to do is give it a push. This dolly has a 1000lb capacity, so you can pretty much load any piece of furniture without a worry.
If you want to take extra precautions when moving your furniture and appliances, use a furniture pad and either twine or mover’s wrap to cover and secure them. This will help prevent them from getting dirty or scratches.
