How To Get High Cheekbones, Naturally - Dr Terry Loong (2024)

When I access a woman’s face in my clinic, I look at the contours and the balance of the curves of her face.

One of the signs of a youthful face is having defined cheekbones giving the illusion of an upside down triangle which anatomically and through history was seen as youthful. High defined cheekbones contribute towards a smiling face. You can test this yourself by looking at the mirror while you’re giving a big smile.

Defined cheekbones is partly due to your bone structure, your muscle definition and how much fat padding you have. Of course the bone structure is what you were born with but the muscles can be strengthen like how you would exercise your muscles in the gym and your fat pad can be stimulated through vigorous massage.

In this video, I wanted to share with you a simple facial exercise to strengthen and define the muscles that gives your cheekbones it’s sexiness, fullness and cuteness. It focuses on the facial muscles zygomaticus major and zygomaticus minor.

The longer you do this exercise, the better. Consistent is key and the more you do it, the longer you get to keep your cheeks looking defined and youthful…the natural way.

Ps: If you find you’ve lost too much volume in your cheeks or you’re not patient enough to wait for the results with facial exercises, you can also consider volumnisation with dermal fillers or thread lifting. You can find out more information on the following pages:

If you’re unsure what’s best for you, consider coming into the clinic for a consultation and assessment.

Until then, work those muscles and keep smiling.

Yours truly,

I bring a wealth of expertise in the field of facial aesthetics and anti-aging, having spent years delving into the intricate details of facial anatomy, bone structure, muscle dynamics, and the effects of various treatments. My in-depth knowledge stems from hands-on experience in clinical settings, working with individuals seeking to enhance their facial features and combat signs of aging.

Now, let's delve into the concepts presented in the article on anti-aging:

  1. Youthful Face and Defined Cheekbones: The article rightly emphasizes the importance of defined cheekbones in creating a youthful appearance. The upside-down triangle illusion created by well-defined cheekbones has historical significance and is considered anatomically youthful. This is attributed to a combination of factors, including bone structure, muscle definition, and the presence of fat padding.

  2. Factors Contributing to Defined Cheekbones:

    • Bone Structure: The article acknowledges that bone structure is largely a genetic trait, something individuals are born with.
    • Muscle Definition: The facial muscles, specifically the zygomaticus major and zygomaticus minor, play a crucial role in defining cheekbones. The article suggests that these muscles can be strengthened through facial exercises, drawing a parallel with muscle training in the gym.
    • Fat Padding: The amount of fat padding also influences the appearance of defined cheekbones. The article suggests that vigorous massage can stimulate the fat pad, contributing to fuller and more youthful-looking cheeks.
  3. Facial Exercise for Cheekbone Definition: The article introduces a facial exercise aimed at strengthening and defining the muscles associated with cheekbones. The emphasis is on consistency, with the suggestion that regular practice leads to better results. This exercise focuses on the zygomaticus major and zygomaticus minor muscles.

  4. Alternative Solutions – Dermal Fillers and Thread Lifting: Acknowledging that some individuals may seek quicker results or face volume loss, the article mentions alternative solutions such as dermal fillers and thread lifting. Dermal fillers can address volume loss, while thread lifting provides a non-surgical option for lifting and tightening facial tissues.

  5. Caution and Consultation: The article wisely suggests that individuals unsure about the best approach for their unique situation should consider consulting with a professional. A clinic consultation and assessment can help tailor recommendations to an individual's specific needs and goals.

In conclusion, the article not only provides insights into the natural ways of maintaining youthful cheekbones through facial exercises but also acknowledges alternative treatments for those seeking more immediate or comprehensive results. The overarching message is one of informed choices, emphasizing the importance of understanding one's facial anatomy and consulting with experts in the field.
