WEEK 1: ORGANIZE YOUR TEAM.
Reach outtofriends, family members, neighbors, coworkers—anyone you think would liketobe involved in this project. Set upaFacebook group or email chain so you can keep in regular contact and begin assigning taskstoeach member.
WEEK 2: PICK YOUR LOCATION.
Pickalocation that is guaranteedtoget noticed.Hostyourbakesaleat your office, neighborhood school,acommunity center,apopular grocery store front, oralocal farmers’ market. You can also coordinate with local events like 5K runs, parades, and festivalstoensure yourbakesalegets plenty of foot traffic.
WEEK 3: PROMOTE, PROMOTE, PROMOTE.
Once you sign up, we’ll send youabakesaletool kit. Use social media, coffee shop and community center bulletin boards, and simple word of mouthtoget your event on people’s radar. Ask friends and local businessestopostbakesalesigns in front of their homes and stores for increased visibility.
WEEK 4: ASK FOR DONATIONS AND STOCK UP ON INGREDIENTS.
Check in with your local grocery storestosee if they’ll support yourbakesaleby offering reduced rates on groceries or packaging supplies. You can also ask for donations from friends and familytocut down on costs. Either way, now is the timetoget your ingredients in order.
WEEK 5: STARTBAKING.
Prep andbakeyour treats now and freeze them so they’ll be fresh for thebakesale.Bakedpound cakes and scones and drop cookie dough all freeze very well!
WEEK 6: LAUNCH YOURBAKESALE.
Make suretocapture your big event, snapping shots of participants, buyers, and, of course, the deliciousbakedgoods. Once thebakesaleis over, remembertosubmit your funds and your storytoNo Kid Hungry online so they knowhowtheir community has grown.
