Download The Nielsen App That Pays You Just For Having It
The Nielsen app pays you just for having it on your device. You literally do nothing and they’ll pay you $50 per year per device.
Nielsen is a market research company that compiles consumer data and reports back to companies who use the data to improve their products and services.
Nielsen also has a sweepstakes where they give away $1,000/month to lucky winners (you must have the app installed to be a winner.)
Take Online Surveys
Online surveys aren’t going to make you rich but they can be a good way to make a little side income fairly easily.
Unfortunately, there are lots of scammy survey sites out there. I’ve joined many survey sites over the past few years, and there are few that stand out as clear winners in terms of earning potential, legitimacy and ease of use.

Recommended Survey Site – Vindale Research
One of my favorite features ofVindale Researchis their Daily Studies.
Daily Studies are surveys that change throughout the day. You can participate in the daily studies 10 times per day, and they will pay you every time you complete the daily study.
Right now in my dashboard, there are 3 daily studies – one paying $1.25 per study, the other two paying $0.75. If I take each of the studies the maximum 10 times, I’ll make $27.50.

Recommend Survey Site – Survey Junkie
Another survey site I recommend is Survey Junkie.
Survey Junkie has lots of surveys available with some of them paying as high as $50. They pay cash via PayPal and have a TrustPilot Rating of 8.9/10 which is the highest of any survey company.

Recommended Survey Site – LifePoints
Another survey company I recommend is LifePoints.
LifePoints offers survey to countries around the world in over 20 different languages. You can fill out surveys offering your opinion on anything from groceries to games. You likely won’t get rich off of the surveys, but it does give you a little extra cash in your pocket – and an extra $100 a month can give you money to pamper yourself 🙂
You can redeem your points for gifts cards such as Best Buy and Target (among others), or redeem them for cash using PayPal.

Make Money Scanning Barcodes
Shopkick is a free app thatpays you to scan barcodes and enter stores – it’s like a treasure hunt but you get paid for it!
For each item you scan in a store, you’ll earn what’s called “kicks.” Each kick on Shopkickis worth around $0.004 cents which doesn’t sound like much, but sometimes you can get 350 kicks just for entering a store, which works out to $0.80.
Add to that all the kicks you earn for scanning barcodes and you could make a few dollars just by entering some stores and scanning some barcodes.Plus Shopkick is fun and it’s free, so why not?

Make Money For Buying Your Groceries
One of my favorite easy ways to earn money is by claiming cash back on my groceries with a free app called Ibotta.
Ibotta is easy to use – just choose the cashback offers you’d like to claim, scan the corresponding barcodes then snap a pic of your receipt and upload it directly through the app. 24 hours later your cash back will appear in your account.
Once you reach $20, you can request payment via Paypal cash, a gift card or Venmo.
Another way you can make money with Ibotta is by referring your friends. Once you’ve joined Ibotta, you’ll receive a special referral code. They will pay you a bonus $5 for every friend that signs up using your referral code.

A lesser-known but lucrative way to make money online without working a regular job is website flipping.
Perhaps you’ve heard the dream stories of people who start a website and sell it for millions of dollars 5 or 10 years later.
While those kinds of success stories are few and far between, there are thousands of regular people who make anywhere from a few thousands dollars all the way up to 6 figures flipping websites.
The great news is, you don’t need any technical skills to start flipping websites and it’s fairly cheap to get started.

Make Money By Blogging
Starting a blog is one of the best, and most financially rewarding things I’ve ever done. The money I make from blogging has allowed me to make enough to pay all my monthly expenses.
I still work full time and run other businesses as I live in a high cost of living area and am trying to pay down debt before leaving my lucrative day job.
It’s important to note that while blogging is fun and potentially very lucrative, there is definitely work involved.
In fact, you’ll need to put a lot of work in upfront (for very little money) before you start seeing any real income. So this is not really a good way to make money without working in the beginning, but can become that way as you start to see some success.

If you love dogs, then you can make up to $1000/month or more pet sitting or dog walking with Rover.
Rover is the nations largest pet sitting and dog walking network, with 140,000 pet sitters and dog walkers. It’s free to create a profile on Rover, and as a member of the Rover network, you’ll get 80% of your earnings (the other 20% goes towards paying for Rover’s customer support, payment processing, promotion, safety coverage, etc.)
Considering that every 4 seconds a pet owner books a service through Rover, it’s fair to say that you could really make some good money without having to do more than care for adorable dogs (which, if you’re a dog lover, you’d probably do for free anyway, so what better than to get paid for it!)

Make Money Mystery Shopping
Mystery shopping has been around forever – it’s been one of the most popular ways to make money without a job for decades. Check out these mystery shopping jobs.
One of the best mystery shopping companies that I’ve come across is Bestmark. Bestmark aren’t some flash in the pan, scammy mystery shopping company – they’re one of the premier mystery shopping companies and work with some of the top companies around the world, including Fortune 500 and Global 500 companies.
If you’re nervous about the idea of being a mystery shopper, there’s really no need to be. When you’re a mystery shopper with Bestmark, all you have to do is go to the establishment and act like a normal shopper.
Depending on your assignment, you might be getting an oil change on your vehicle, ordering a meal at a restaurant or finding out information about opening a new bank account.
If you’re ever required to make a small purchase, you’ll be fully reimbursed by Bestmark. Once you’ve completed your assignment, you’ll come home, log into your Bestmark account and report back on your experience.
The payment rate varies depending on location and assignment, but you’re looking at around $20-$25 on average.
Make Money Freelance Writing
If you have a knack for writing, then it’s possible to make very good money as afreelance writer. In fact, freelance writing was one of the first ways that I made money online, along with online surveys.
If you’re interested in freelance writing, here are some of the steps that I took:
- Write constantly. The more you write, the better you’ll get.
- Enroll in a freelance writing course on Udemy;
- If you’re planning to submit articles to online publications (which is the easiest/best way to make money fast) then buy a copy of the Yahoo! Style Guide. (paid link)
- If you need money fast (and you don’t really care how much) then consider joining Blogmutt. I will warn you, they are a content mill and they pay peanuts (around $7/article last time I checked.) But I used to be a member and I found it was a good way to build up my experience and confidence. Just don’t get stuck in the trap of writing for peanuts – you deserve WAY more than $7/article.

Make Money By Selling Your Stuff
I’m willing to bet that if you really took an inventory of everything you own, you can probably come up with a fair amount of stuff that you don’t really need, and sell it for at least a couple hundred dollars.
I actually do this regularly. It helps me to keep living a simple life and keep my house clean and clutter free.
Every few months, I’ll go through the entire house setting aside clothes that no longer fit, kitchen utensils that I don’t need, papers we’ve kept that are not longer needed, etc.
I’ll sort them into three piles – sell, donate and throw away/shred.
Depending on the items, I’ll either sell them at a garage sale, on ThredUp or Mercari, online in local Facebook selling groups, or take them to a local consignment store (this is actually my favorite option).
Make Money by Renting Out a Room in Your House
If you have an extra room in your house and you live in a desirable location, then you can make good money hosting guests with Airbnb.
There are people who make thousands of dollars per month through Airbnb. A lot of what you can make will depend on where you live, the type of host you are, and the type of space you’re offering.
If you don’t have a spare room, you can even get creative. I know of someone who rented a 1970’s Airstream that someone had in their backyard!

Make Money By Creating an Online Course
If you’re skilled and knowledgeable in a certain area, then I’m willing to bet there are people who’d be interesting in learning from you.
Creating an online course is relatively easy to do, especially when you utilize a platform like Udemy.
Head on over to Udemy and browse through the thousands of online courses that people are offering, then get started on creating and uploading your own. There are people who make multiple six figures a year from creating online courses.
