How to sell on Vinted.... | The Diary of a Frugal Family (1)

I’m a big fan of selling on the Facebook marketplace as it’s so easy. Anyone who’s tried it will know that you just snap a couple of pics on your phone, add a description and a price and you’re good to go – no postage, no fees, no hassle.

I’ve sold loads on there in the past and never had any issues but I will say that it’s not great for smaller items like shoes, clothes, and bags so most things that fall into this category would usually go into the car boot sale box or just get dropped off at our local charity shop because selling eBay is way too much hassle for me for the smaller items now.

But I’ve recently rediscovered Vinted ( I had the app ages ago and deleted it for some reason so I forgot all about it until someone mentioned it to me the other day) so I spent some time on Saturday having a play and ended up listing a few items for sale to see how it worked and whether selling on Vinted could be a good little money-maker.

There’s no fees for the seller so you get 100% of what you sell your item for and your buyer is responsible for postage too so you don’t even have to do that. Vinted set the postage based on the item you’re listing and charge the buyer directly so you just get a shipping label to print out when your item sells.

Step 1 – Join Vinted

The first thing you need to do is sign up for Vinted which literally takes about 30 seconds. This is my refer a friend link if you want to use that.

Step 2 – Click on ‘Sell’

It’s so easy to sell on Vinted once you’re signed up, just click on the sell button along the bottom of the screen and you’ll be taken to the most self-explanatory, easy-to-understand page ever. Add up to 20 photos of your item and give your listing a title and description then you’re almost done.

You’ll be prompted to select a couple of options – category, brand, and condition and then you’ll need to set your price which is made simple by the recently sold items that show up to help you see what sort of price similar items have been selling for

Step 3 – How to get your item seen

What’s a ‘bump’ on Vinted?

So, even though selling is free, you have the option to bump an item which is a paid-for service that will bump the item up people’s newsfeeds once a day for three consecutive days. This option costs you 95p per item but it’s not something that I’ve used myself yet. You can bump your items from your profile page.

What’s a ‘wardrobe spotlight’ on Vinted?

Another paid option on Vinted is the option to buy a seven-day wardrobe spotlight for £6.95, which is essentially an ad that will appear in people’s feeds highlighting five of your items.

Step 4 – Wait for the sales to come rolling in

If you have notifications switched on then you’ll see when people favourite your items and when your items sell. Keep an eye on them as you need to make sure your items are posted within five days of the sale.

Step 5 – Post your items

Once your item sells, Vinted will send you a notification that it’s sold and a link to download the shipping label that’s been prepaid by your buyer so you can simply wrap your item, attach the postage label and drop it off at your nearest Hermes parcelshop for delivery.

Step 6 – Get Paid

Themoney from your sale becomes available in your Vinted balance once your item has been delivered and your buyer hits the “Everything’s OK” option in their account. If they don’t do that for some reason then the money will automatically become available after 2 days. You can either use the credit to buy something else on Vinted or just withdrawit after each sale.

It’s so much easier than I thought it would be to sell on Vinted so I absolutely recommend that you give it a go if you have some bits and bobs that you want to declutter and make some money at the same time!
