It offers a lot of flexibility when it comes to using its points, including the ability to combine between your accounts (if you have multiple Chase credit cards) and transfer points from one Chase cardholder to another. There are many instances in which you’d want to take advantage of these options and the process is fairly simple.

In fact, you may be able to increase the value of your Chase points by transferring them from one credit card account to another. Here are a few things you should know first:

Thankfully, the process to combine points between cards is quick and easy.

The steps to transfer Ultimate Rewards® to another card are straightforward.

1. Go to Chase's travel portal

Visit the Chase website or use the Chase mobile app to log in to your Chase account. Next, you’ll want to navigate to Chase's travel portal.

2. Choose the card that you want to transfer points from

Once in the portal, you’ll be prompted to select a Chase card. Choose the card from which you want to transfer your points to begin the process. You’ll see the total available points for each card and other important details about each card.

3. Select the “Earn/Use” button and select “Combine Points”

Select the “Earn/Use” button to expand the left menu bar. Next, navigate to the “Combine Points” option — the last option on the menu. That step will take you to where you need to go to transfer your points between cards.

When you would want to transfer points between Chase cards

If you have a Chase Ultimate Rewards®-earning credit card that offers better redemption values, you may want to transfer all your Chase points to that card.

For example, let's say you have the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and the Chase Freedom Unlimited®. When redeeming through Chase's travel portal, points earned on the Chase Sapphire Reserve® are worth 1.5 cents each, while points earned on the Chase Freedom Unlimited® are worth only 1 cent each. So you'll want to redeem the points sitting in the account belonging to the Chase Sapphire Reserve®.

You can transfer your Chase Ultimate Rewards® points to another person, like a family member, spouse or friend. Chase allows you to move points to another Chase card that you own or to another Chase card that belongs to a member of your household. Any other points transfers are prohibited.

Similar to the example explained above, here’s an instance of when it might be beneficial to transfer your Chase points to a household member's Chase card:

If you have the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card, your points are worth 1.25 cents each within Chase's travel portal. So, if you have 100,000 points, they are worth $1,250 when redeemed. If your spouse has the Chase Sapphire Reserve®, points on that card are worth 1.5 cents each within Chase's travel portal. This means that if you have 100,000 points, they are worth $1,500 when redeemed.

By transferring your points to your spouse, all the points can be redeemed at 1.5 cents each, so you increase the value of your points by $250.
