How to Use BrickSeek at Target and Walmart (2024)

Ever wish you could hack the inventory system at Walmart or Target? Then you’re gonna love learning how to use BrickSeek. Using a tool like BrickSeek during clearance events, like the semiannual Target toy clearance sale, will help you see the prices at your local store and — depending on the retailer — what their inventory looks like.

Spoiler alert: BrickSeek isn’t as wonderful as it used to be with Walmart. But that doesn’t mean you can’t still use it to your advantage.

Make sure to download the official The Krazy Coupon Lady app so you never miss a single Target discount or Walmart deal!

What is BrickSeek?

BrickSeek.com is a free website and app that reports store inventory by DPCI (department/class/item) or UPC (universal product code) at Target, Walmart, Lowe’s, and other retailers. If you don’t have the DCPI or UPC for a particular product, you can also look it up by name in BrickSeek’s search bar.

So what’s the beauty of looking up a product on BrickSeek? You can instantly see if any store has the item on clearance at a lower price. For example, these Skullcandy Sesh Evo earbuds are usually priced at $58.99 on Target.com, but when I looked them up on BrickSeek, I found out they were on clearance at local Target stores for just $29.99. That’s 49% off!

While BrickSeek works just fine with Target inventory, you might have some difficulty with Walmart. Previously when using BrickSeek with Walmart, it would give an inventory estimate when you put in your ZIP code. But the Walmart inventory system is no longer communicating with the BrickSeek system. You can still see the Walmart clearance price, but the inventory amount will now say “Unknown.”

How do I use the BrickSeek Inventory Checkers?

From the BrickSeek home page, you’ll need to navigate to the Inventory Checkers subpages from the main menu. You’ll then select a store, enter an SKU or UPC, and enter your ZIP code.

BrickSeek shows whether the item I’m looking for is in stock, in limited quantity, or out of stock at stores near me and the current price.

While certain retailers like Target will display “In Stock” or “Out of Stock” for local inventory, Walmart’s inventory system no longer lets BrickSeek know if items are in stock or not. Unfortunately, BrickSeek isn’t much help with checking your local Walmart’s inventory anymore.

Here are the shortcuts to popular BrickSeek inventory pages:

Does BrickSeek have an app?

Yes — the BrickSeek mobile app is available for iOS and Android devices. Personally, I much prefer using the mobile-friendly interface of the BrickSeek app rather than the BrickSeek website.

Is BrickSeek always accurate?

Unfortunately, BrickSeek’s inventory estimates are not always accurate. But in my experience, the results are most accurate at Lowe’s.

If you want to be 100% sure, check BrickSeek first and then call the store before making a trip.

Is BrickSeek free?

Yes and no. BrickSeek is free if you want to look up items. But if you want to set alerts so you can be notified when an item is restocked or returned in your area, you may want to consider a paid membership.

Here are the BrickSeek membership options:

  • Basic (Free) — One local in-store deal alert and three online deal alerts per week.
  • Premium ($9.99 per month) — Check in-store markdowns, five local deal alerts and 10 online deal alerts daily, and early access for certain deals.
  • Extreme Deal Hunter ($29.99 per month) — Initial access to certain deals, 20 local inventory alerts twice daily, and unlimited online deal alerts.

Obviously, paying to save money requires that you get disciplined with your clearance hunting to make sure you’re saving more than you’re spending.

My advice? Stick with the free version for a month before considering the paid version.
