Happy New Year! I hope you had a wonderful holiday! Now that the holidays are over, do you stop wearing plaid? Similar to not wearing white after Labor Day. Many people think that plaid should only be worn in November and December. However, the plaid style will still be trending in 2022. Wearing plaid after the holidays is easy if you follow these tips.

Put away the Holiday Theme Plaid

Even though my Christmas decorations are still up (until January 6th), I have put away all my red buffalo plaid. Red and black buffalo plaid is usually associated with the holiday season. As much as I love my red plaid wraps, they need to go back into the closet. Avoid wearing any red and green plaid until next Thanksgiving. That plaid is just too Christmasy.

Keep Your Plaid Neutral

One of my favorite neutral plaids is Burberry’s iconic Burberry tartan plaid, but my wallet can’t afford it now. Instead, I splurged a long time ago on a Burberry cashmere scarf. This is a timeless and classic neutral plaid that looks great in the winter. Or anytime, actually. Neutral plaids can be worn all winter long, well into spring.

Wearing Plaid Year-Round

It’s so easy to wear plaid year-round. You will see bright-colored plaids and checks in the stores in the spring. Plaid suits will be popular this spring, but I don’t wear suits anymore. I still love a plaid blazer or skirt. My favorite plaid in the summer is still madras.

What’s your favorite plaid? Is it Tartan, Black Watch tartan, Buffalo, Madras, Gingham, Check, Windowpane Check, or Houndstooth? So many wonderful plaids that it’s a perfect pattern to wear year-round!
