How to Write a Successful Influencer Campaign Proposal (2024)

Blogging ·

Over the last year, I learned how to write a successful influencer campaign proposal for a sponsored post through influencer networks. I spent many hours researching how to write the perfect pitch and through trial and error, have found a system that works. By the end of 2017, I had landed 27 out of the 40 campaigns I applied for within one of my favorite influencer networks.

I’d love to share with you 5 tips for writing a successful campaign proposal for an influencer network. These tips work for any campaign that requires you to “sell yourself” with a pitch that will capture not only an audience’s eye, but also the campaign manager and brand. I may not be able to tell you how to get a million followers on social media, but I do know how to do is write a successful campaign pitch!

How to Write a Successful Influencer Campaign Proposal

1. Be Clear From the Start.

Your first sentence in a pitch should be attention grabbing, but clear from the start. Think about why you want to work with this brand or what kind of idea you have for the campaign. Sometimes I ask a question, other times I will state a fact – whatever I say I try to be witty but to the point.

2. Throw them a hook.

When you’re considering a pitch for a possible campaign, remember that you’re job is going to be to sell your audience on a product. Ask yourself a series of questions: “Can I actually use this product in my life?” “Will this product solve a problem?” “Why would someone want to buy this product?” Sometimes I ask my family and friends their opinions on the product and use their ideas to create a pitch. Then I throw them a hook.

3. Sell Yourself.

Why are YOU better than other influencers? Maybe you’re a DIY whiz, or you can whip up a tablescape in 5 minutes, or perhaps you cook the world’s best lasagna – whatever you can do, don’t be afraid to brag. Obviously, brag about something that’s related to the brand. For example, I love coming up with tutorials for ‘kits’ (example 1, example 2, and example 3), so I often incorporate the brand into some sort of kit.

4. Provide an example of your best work in your influencer campaign proposal.

Sometimes influencer networks will ask you to include a link to one of your recent sponsored posts – choose something that’s similar to the pitch you’ve just written. If you’ve not landed a campaign yet, it can’t hurt to include a recent post you’ve written that has wonderful photography with a great story, or even a tutorial/recipe. Don’t be afraid to submit more than one link – the more the merrier.

5. Apply for campaigns within your niche.

As a lifestyle/mommy blogger, I usually apply to campaigns related to anything from food (I like to post recipes) to children’s products (I have two daughters) to household products. I love writing tutorials and DIY posts, as well as storytelling posts that incorporate the brand into my lifestyle. If you’re a beauty blogger, don’t waste your time writing a pitch for diapers. Stick to campaigns within your niche.
