Three Dimensions of Color:The 3D-Master Shade Guide uses color science to communicate informationabout the appearance of teeth with the three dimensions of color:hue, value and chroma (saturation).
Value (lightness) describes overall intensity to how light or dark a color is.It is the only dimension of color that may exist by itself.
Chroma (Saturation) maybe defined as the strength or dominance of the hue.On the outer edgeof the hue wheel are the intensely saturated hues.Towards the center of the colorwheel, no hue dominates and they becomes less and less saturated.
Hue is described with the words we normally think of as describing color:red, purple, blue, etc.
Value (lightness) describes overall intensity to how light or dark acolor is.It is the only dimension of color that may exist by itself.
(Example: A black and white photograph is a one-dimensional rendition of a three dimensional object)
Chroma (saturation) may be defined as the strength or dominance of thehue. On the outer edge of the hue wheel are the ÎpureÌ hues.Towards thecenter of the color wheel, no hue dominates and becomes less and lesssaturated.
Hue is described with the words we normally think of as describingcolor: red, purple, blue, etc. It is also a term which describes adimension of color we readily experience when we look at color.
