Grew Up… in Oxford, England. Both his parents were graduates of Oxford University, and he grew up in a highly intellectual home.
Living… in the dorms at Oxford. Stephen studies physics and chemistry at Oxford. Recently, though, he’s been having trouble controlling his movements. A doctor has told him that he has a degenerative motor-neuron disease, and he only has a few years to live at most. But Stephen refuses to accept that.
Profession… genius mathematician. Stephen’s talent for mathematics is extraordinary, something that his professors at Oxford recognize. Now that he’s been diagnosed, he has a limited amount of time to accomplish his goal –creating a theory to summarize how all the forces in the universe work.
Relationship Status… involved with Jane, a friend of his sister’s. Jane studies languages and is religious, and Stephen studies science and is a devoted atheist. Despite their differences, they have an undeniable chemistry.
Challenge… overcoming his medical challenges, and changing the world with his theories. If Stephen can continue his writing, he will be able to create mathematical theories that forever alter our understanding of the universe.
Personality… brilliant, funny, and determined. Stephen can also be stubborn, refusing to admit that he might not be able to do certain things, preferring to struggle rather than ask for help. And despite the hardships he has faced, he remains an eternal optimist. As he says, “There should be no boundaries to human endeavor. We are all different. However bad life may seem, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. While there's life, there is hope.”
