What makes a good student IELTS speaking part 3? ›

Answer: A student is a good student when she/he learns new things at every opportunity not only what is taught in the classroom, but also what is taught by nature and his/her surroundings.

There is no set word limit for what a good part 3 answer, but it should not be too short and not too long. Too short and you will have failed to develop your answer properly; too long and you may go off topic and/or make mistakes. As a rule, I advise my students to try to answer with 3-4 sentences.

After completing the cue card task, the examiner will start asking questions based on the cue card topic called speaking part 3. In this task, the examiner expects the answers to be expanded with examples and opinions.

A good student is the one who can work in a group, motivate others and yield productive output. Being positive, helpful, cooperative and friendly are all the traits of a good student. Such students become great team players and leaders when they grow up.

The most common terms are hardworking, being good in academics, submitting work on time, being regular, participating in-class activities, and achieving high grades.

So to sum up, in part 3 of the speaking, make sure that you are talking generally rather than about personal experiences. However, you can use personal experiences, but these should just be used to illustrate your general points.

Because there is not a separate score for Speaking Part 2, there's no exact number of points that you lose if you cannot fill the two minutes. However, having said that, it might be difficult to get a 7 or higher for Fluency if you can't keep talking.

Very few IELTS candidates score an overall 8.0 in the IELTS test. It means that in both IELTS listening and IELTS reading you score at least 36 correct answers out of 40 and in speaking and writing your English is practically error-free.

Are 3 weeks enough for IELTS preparation? ›

We recommend that students spend at least 6-8 weeks preparing for the IELTS exam, focusing on basic grammar, reading speed, test strategies and writing skills. Each part of the IELTS exam is different, so ensure you fully understand what is expected of you.

You can ask the examiner to repeat the question in IELTS speaking part 1 (Could you repeat that, please?) but that's all. You can't ask other questions. The examiner is limited to asking questions only in speaking part 1 and can't help you or explain.

The way that you greet the examiner is very important.

Make sure that you smile when you greet him. The greeting should fit the time of day so you should say “good morning”, “good afternoon” or “good evening” as appropriate. Wait until you are offered a seat before sitting down.

Examiners assess your performance against 4 criteria. Fluency and coherence, lexical resource, grammatical range and accuracy, and pronunciation. Your Speaking results are given as band scores which range from a band 0 to a band 9.

Fortunately, the exam can be retaken as many times as you need to obtain a passing score. However, you do have to pay each time you take the exam. Rather than blindly attempt to retake the exam multiple times until you get a passing score, it's better to determine what went wrong and why you failed the first time.

This is about 40% of all IELTS speaking tests. The students get to know some topics which are repeated mostly in speaking tests. In this way, an academy's importance is much high for providing IELTS speaking.

IELTS Speaking Part 3 lasts 4 to 5 minutes. The examiner will usually aim to ask around 4 to 6 questions. Some of the questions are scripted, but the examiner may also ask some impromptu (made up) questions based on your last answer. You need to give longer answers than in Part 1.

TOEFL Speaking question three consists of both a reading passage and a recorded lecture about the same topic. You will take notes on both and then give a paraphrased summary drawing on information from both sources. You will have 30 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to speak.
