Abstract
Worldwide, the uses of information and communications technology (ICT) have been evolving dramatically every day. One of the most critical applications of ICT has emerged, namely e-commerce. As e-commerce adds new dimensions to commercial activity, consumers’ behavior towards traditional commercial activities inevitably changes. This review article analyzes the impact of e-commerce on traditional commercial activities. It extends to investigate the manifestation of the changes associated with the development of commercial activity based on the characteristics gained from informatics. Reviewing relevant literature yielded a newly suggested approach for the planning and the design of commercial activities. This approach ensured the integration and sustainability of e-commercial activities in virtual spaces and traditional commercial activities in urban areas to form a more suitable model for users' needs under the influence of informatics. Arguing the significant presence of this approach motivate urban planners and designers to design better commercial centers.

Ahmad Helmy Mohamad is an assistant Lecturer, received BSc in Architectural engineering from faculty of engineering, Ain Shams University, a master's holder and doctoral researcher in the department of Urban Design & Planning - faculty of engineering, Ain Shams University. Ahmad has a teaching experience of 11 years in several courses offered by the Architecture Department - Faculty of Engineering Sciences & Arts - Misr international university, such as urban design, urban theories, graduation project, advanced computer applications and architectural design.
Ghada Farouk Hassan, PhD. ACADEMIC RANK: Professor of Urban Design and Planning, since April 2012, Ain Shams University, head of the department of urban planning and design and member of the Higher Committee of Promoting Professors. She was former Head of the department of Architecture at Faculty of engineering, French University of Egypt. In addition she had been General Manager of the Technical Office at the General Organization of physical planning, GOPP, Ministry of Housing Utilities and Urban Community for 6 years since 2006. Teaching and Training Activities: Dr Ghada is Responsible of the following courses: Urban ecology, and Environmental Planning for the ungraduated level, Eco Urban design and Landscape planning for the post Graduate level at the IUSD. She has been conducting and preparing TOT courses in urban planning, participatory process, and experiences, strategic planning in urban development to Iraqi relatives through the Iraq program sponsored by UN-HABITAT, and she was Trainer for Slum Upgrading and gender issues for Iraqis technical staff (localities) in June 2005 conducted by UN and ministry of housing and urban settlements and infrastructure. Professional Experience: She was leading the National Project for Mapping Needs as new approach for integrating social, economic, and environmental dimension in demarcating unplanned areas in Cities of Egypt. Also participating in the inventory and the surveys and the classification for unsafe areas in Egypt as consultant at ISDF (Informal Settlement Development Funds). Moreover, she was Participating in several development project at Saudi Arabia such as the coastal development of Half Moon Beach and landscape of KAND project as leading consultant at BECT firm. In Addition, she was the leader of teams in the following responsibility: Participating in the preparation of the strategic urban development plan (SUP) of 50 cities, managed by UN-Habitat as a team leader and urban planner; Evaluating (recruited by UNDP) the project of Participatory Slum Upgrading in El-Hallous and El-Bahtini, Governorate of Ismailia – Ismailia City and Markaz – El-Hallous and El-Bahtini and in assessing experience, extract best practice and lesson learned; Managing a research action-oriented project titled “the National Program for the Development of Rural Strategic Plans" sponsored by the General Organization for Physical Planning with technical cooperation from UN-HABITAT in over 500 Egyptian villages as a contribution to the implementation of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs); and adapting of the UN-HABITAT Urban Sector Profile Study tools to be used in the context of the Egyptian village as expert to the GOPP. This included the development of tools for implementation of the study at the village level. As team member in the program. HONORS AND AWARDS: 2018 First Prize in the competition of the National Organization of Urban Harmony, NOUH about Landscaping of the New Capital Squares, 2018. PUBLICATIONS: are mainly is the field of Urban Ecology, Landscaping, Housing, Slum Upgrading, Regenerative Approach And Strategic Planning, She has more than 10 articles published in scientific journal, and she had been organized and participate in more than 14 conferences, either local or international, and she had publishing one book. Ahmed Sami Abd Elrahman is an Associate Professor at Urban Design & Planning department – Faculty of Engineering – Ain Shams University; and the Head of Consultancy Unit for Urban Planning & Design, in addition, he is the Academic Coordinator of Architecture Program in the Faculty. He has extensive experience in sustainable development with particular emphasis on large scale residential projects, waterfront development, local development, coastal planning and Participatory planning. Ahmed Sami has been involved in teaching Architecture Design, Urban Planning, Urban Design and landscape design for undergraduates. And Waterfront development for the post graduates students in Faculty of Engineering – Ain Shams University. In addition to teaching experiences at other colleges like (AAST) Arab academy for science & technology, (MIU) Misr International University, (BUE) British University in Egypt. He was involved in many urban design & urban planning projects where he has such experience during his work in PUD (Planning and Urban Development) Consulting firm, which has been implementing mega planning & urban design projects in and outside Egypt, besides his work in other consulting firms since his graduation. Ahmed Sami was involved also in designing university buildings, shopping, residential and office complexes and water front projects. He participated in many National projects like the strategic planning of the North Coast of Egypt with (PUD). In addition to a wide experience in the large scale residential projects inside and outside Egypt, like El-Khamayel City in 6th of October, Darna & Elmarg City in Lybia. He has several local & international publications under titles of «waterfront development», «Slums», «Brownfields», «urban spaces after revolutions» & «tactical urbanism».
