90 Day Fiancé star Deavan Clegg and Jihoon Lee are one of the most memorable couples from 90 Day Fiancé: The Other Way for the wrong reasons. Their first season chronicled a pregnant Deavan trying to move to South Korea to stay with Jihoon’s family without knowing about their language or culture. However, since her exit from the show, Deavan has claimed they wanted her to portray the role of “an ignorant American,” when she started learning Jihoon's language at 12 years old. Deavan also spoke out about the show when she shockingly declared, “Some was fake. Some was real. Season 1 … 96% was fake. Season 2 I would say 50/50 drama was real” on her Instagram story.

On 90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days season 4, David Murphey finally met Lana, his online girlfriend of seven years on his fourth attempt to meet her in person. Lana showed all signs of being a catfish, yet David told fans on Instagram, “I don’t control editing” when his relationship was being criticized. Eventually, Lana turned out to be real, and David popped the question and she said yes. However, on the Before the 90 Days Tell-All, David confessed they weren’t together after she stopped responding to his messages. A year later, Lana replied to her followers in perfect English on Instagram, saying that their engagement was “just for the show” and that their storyline was “90%” scripted.
90 Day Fiancé Cast Members Who Insist The Show Is Real
90 Day Fiancé stars like Deavan, Lana, and many others like the notorious Natalie Mordovtseva, Stephanie Davison, and even Tiffany Franco have said the show is producer-driven. However, there are some cast members who want viewers to believe it's not fake. When a fan on Instagram asked Erika Owens, “Is it scripted?” she replied, “Nope, it’s real.” Danielle Jbali was also asked, “was any part of your filming in 90 day fiancé staged,” and her answer was “nope.” Kenneth Niedermeier told his followers, “We are not actors and nothing was scripted,” when he was accused of faking the scene with Armando Rubio where they were denied a Mexican marriage license because the 90 Day Fiancé couple is gay.
