Justin Bieber Reportedly Turned Down Coachella Headline Spot to Focus on New Album (2024)
This year’s edition of Coachella features some high-profile international artists, but it almost had one more. According to TMZ, Justin Bieber turned down an offer to headline the California-based festival in order to focus on his new album.
Coachella is certainly not opposed to having Canadians headline as The Weeknd took the top billing in 2022 following Ye’s bowing out. Arcade Fire also headlined in 2014 and returned in 2022 as a surprise addition after initially being left off the original lineup reveal.
If Bieber does indeed headline Coachella in 2024—which we’ll probably only find out in about 11 months—it might mark an uptick in Canadian artists featured across the lineups.
Until then, it is possible that Bieber does sign on to headline another festival later this year, but there hasn’t been any chatter about that.

The Nigerian singer-songwriter and producer delivered a set at Coachella 2024 on Sunday night (April 14), and brought out the big guns in Bieber and Wizkid, who both stepped onto the stage for a performance of their hit “Essence.”
These comments suggested that Bieber was going to release his album late in 2023 or early 2024, but there has not been any kind of announcement and the singer has not released any new songs. It is also not clear if his health issues have stopped him from releasing new music or planning a new world tour.
While Tems was in the midst of performing the first verse of "Essence," she grinned as Wizkid appeared onstage, per fan-recorded footage of the set. As the duo alternated verses, Bieber shocked the audience by emerging from the side of the stage and serenading the "Higher" musician, 28.
Justin and Hailey were just one of several buzz-worthy pairs at Coachella's opening weekend, which also saw Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce hitting the desert.
Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor performed one of his first sober shows at the desert, shortly after a stint in rehab. Coldplay also made their US headliner debut months before releasing their third album X&Y, solidifying their spot as one of the biggest bands in the world.
NEW YORK (AP) — Cue up his 2010 megahit “Baby.” Justin Bieber and Hailey Bieber (nee Baldwin) are expecting their first child together — and have renewed their vows. A representative for Hailey Bieber confirmed to The Associated Press on Thursday that the model is just over six months pregnant.
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at Coachella. Though Swift and Kelce are no strangers to Coachella, their appearance at the 2024 music festival marked their Coachella debut as a couple. The couple was spotted holding hands, dancing and kissing in outfits that inluced including similar baseball caps.
Then, as the song began playing, Swift, who was with her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, in the crowd, cheered and put her hands up. Swift and Kelce danced together as Ice Spice launched into her version of "Karma." Watch our video of the moment below. Swift has never performed at the Indio, Calif.
