Why is Apple not letting me use my gift card? ›

Try entering your redemption code manually. When you redeem a gift card, tap or click "You can also enter your code manually." Make sure that you enter the redemption code that begins with "X", not a different number on the card. Make sure that you enter the correct characters.

If your iTunes card is invalid, make sure that it is an iTunes giftcard and not an Apple Store giftcard, the two are often inaccurately assumed to be the same. If it's inactive, there is a possibility that it was not properly activated. Going back to the retailer could fix the issue.
