Local buses in Venice - Lines, schedules and tickets (2024)

Land buses do not run on the island of Venice. However, to get to the city center (Piazzale Roma) from Venice Marco Polo Airport, the ACTV buses are the cheapest option.

An unlikely means of transport in Venice

You will probably forget the existence of urban buses, taxis and cars during your holiday in Venice, since all the island’s public transport is waterborne.

The buses run on the mainland, for example in Mestre and certain islands like Lido. Buses also depart from Piazzale Roma and on the island of Venice, Santa Croce is the only neighborhood where buses and cars can travel.

Tariffs

A one-way ticket costs 1.50 (US$ 1.70)and is valid for 75 minutes.

If you’re planning on using the public transport system in Venice, we recommend buying the Tourist Travel Card, which is valid both for buses and water buses.
