Logyn (2024)

Logyn is the non-binary ship between Loki Laufeyson and Sigyn from the Marvel fandom.

Canon[]

Earth-616[]

Loki desired some companion to keep him company and ended up coming across Sigyn, an Asgardian goddess. When he went to ask her to become his wife by presenting her with gifts, Sigyn rejected him as she was already engaged to Theoric and despised Loki. So, he took matters into his own hands, taking on the disguise of her fiancee and having the real Theoric killed. Loki didn't reveal himself until after the wedding. Despite her shock, the marriage could not be annulled and Sigyn went through with it willingly. Because of her actions, Sigyn is given the title 'Goddess of Fidelity' by Odin for her loyalty to Loki. Overtime, Sigyn came to genuinely love her husband.

When Loki was sentenced to a punishment for his actions with Balder and chained to a rock with snake venom dripping onto his face, Sigyn did not leave his side, choosing to stay and shield him from the venom by collecting it in a bowl to ease his suffering. Despite leaving her alone at times and being overly cold towards her, Loki showed he cared for Sigyn when he returned the favor by saving his wife's life when she was about to be killed out of revenge for Loki's past deeds. Later on, when Loki was stuck in an astral form, Sigyn helped him by binding his spirit to some armor before they could work on helping him become flesh again. Despite their differences in the beginning of their marriage, at this point the couple had come to care for each other dearly and would defend one another. This was shown when Thor accused Loki of plans involving Donald Blake's death and Sigyn admitted to being behind it as Loki quickly went to his wife's side, defending her from the God of Thunder's wrath.

Eventually, Loki left Sigyn's side and ended up dismissing her from her vows towards him. Sigyn was hesitant about leaving his side, thinking he still needed her help. They have been separated since then. It is assumed by Loki in his new reborn incarnation that Sigyn died some point after they parted ways. She has only been mentioned by him since.

Narvi is the son of Loki and Sigyn. At a young age, he was used to help chain Loki to a rock for punishment, and was murdered from snake venom dripping onto his face.

Fanon[]

As the ship is canon in the comics, many fans wish to see it prevail in the MCU. Fans like the ship because of the ties to their counterparts of Norse Mythology and because of Sigyn's loyalty to Loki. Fans think their personalities would compliment each other with Sigyn providing acceptance and love to the mischievous Loki who has a hard time accepting himself. Most fans don't like the way the comic writers portrayed their relationship and wish to see it written better. They would also like to see Sigyn make an appearance in the comics beside Loki once again.

Many fans speculated if Sigyn would appear in Thor: Ragnarok after rumor's floating about of Loki's wife appearing in the film, but Sigyn has yet to make an appearance or be mentioned in the MCU. Fans also speculate about one of Loki's lines in Infinity War, thinking his undying fidelity was a reference to Sigyn and wonder if she will show up in the Loki Series.

On A03, Logyn is the seventh most written ship for Loki, and the most written for Sigyn. There is many fanworks with different takes on the dynamic that would be shared if Logyn were to make its way into MCU.

Trivia[]

• In Norse Mythology, from which Loki and Sigyn are based from, they are married.
• In Norse Mythology, Loki and Sigyn have two children: Narvi/Narfi & Vali. Their tales end in tragedy where Vali is transformed into a wolf and ends up tearing his brother apart as part of Loki's punishment granted by the Aesir. Narvi is used as a bind to keep Loki chained for eternity.
• Also in the Mythology, Sigyn stays by her husband's side for eternity holding a bowl above his head to stop the snake venom from harming him until Ragnarok comes.
