Make Bra Sizing – We Help You to Find Your Bra Size (2024)
Each manufacturer and pattern maker has their own bra sizing system. So, it is impossible to determine one single, always correct size. Our bodies are changing too; age, weight variation, and hormones cause changes. You may need to re-check your size now and then.
We are using European bra sizes, meaning letters run A, B, C, DD(E), F, G, H, I, J… It is very close to the US bra sizing. As we have a metric system, the band sizes are in centimetres. Below we will help you cope with inches as well.

Do some maths: subtract your underbust measurement (1.) from the full bust measurement (2.). The result tells you the letter of your cup size.

By calculating, you get the right size for the average woman of the size chart. However, within your measurements, your breast volume and upper torso width and depth may vary a lot. The cup size can change even +/- two sizes while measurements remain unchanged.

Pay attention to your bust/back relationship. What is it like? You may also want to compare the size you ended up with the size of the ready-made bra that fits you.

Sister Sizes
Find your ready-to-wear bra size from the sister size chart. All sizes in the same row are sister sizes, meaning the cup volume is the same for all. Your ready-to-wear bra size may be on the different row than your self-measured bra size. Then you might consider picking up the cup size nearer the sister size of your ready-to-wear bra cup size.

Other Underwear Measurements
For underpants you will need two measurements: the waist and hip measurement. The hip measurement is the most important and the pattern of the panties should be selected on the basis of it. Hip measurement is taken around the fullest part of the hip. Hold the tape snug, but not too tight.
All you need to do is a little bra math: Subtract your band size from your bust measurement to find your cup size. “The difference in inches corresponds to your cup size,” says Iserlis. For example, if your bust measures 37 inches, and your band size is 34, the difference will be 3.
You can use the measuring tape to find your band size and cup size. You will find your band size by fitting the tape under your bust, measuring it and rounding it up to the nearest whole number. For measuring cup size, wrap the tape around the fullest part of the bust, and round it off to the nearest whole number.
Measure around your chest again this time placing the measuring tape at nipple level. This is your bust measurement. Get your cup size by subtracting your band size from your bust size. If the difference is a 1 your cup size is an A, 2 a B, 3 a C, etc.
You don't need to use a tape measure to find your bra size! Take one of your current best fitting bras – even if it's not very well fitting at all, and fasten the bra on whichever hook feels most comfortable. Adjust your straps to a two-finger tension, and scoop and swoop all your breast tissue into the cups.
The size of a D cup bra varies depending on the band size. A D cup means that the difference between the band size and the fullest part of the bust is around 4 inches. For example: A 32D bra would have a band measurement of 32 inches and a bust measurement of around 36 inches.
C cup breasts weigh around 1.1 lbs (the equivalent of 3 bananas each breast), D cup breasts weigh around 1.7 lbs (the equivalent of a guinea pig per breast), DD-E cups weigh around 2.2 lbs each (about a pineapple each breast), and DDD-F weigh about 2.6 lbs each (about a quart of water each breast).
CHOOSE THE BLOUSE SIZE SAME AS YOUR BRA SIZE. For example, if your bra size is 40, please choose the blouse size as 40. The measurements on bust size for the blouse are added with 3-4 inches to match your bra size. Please refer Size chart for more details.
Measure loosely around the fullest part of your bust. Subtract the band size from this measurement. Use this number to determine your cup size according to the table below. Example: if your ribcage measurement is 31, and your bust measurement is 37, your bra size is a 34C: 31+3=34, so 34 is your band size.

When it comes to the band size, a 32B is considered a small band size. The number 32 represents the measurement around the ribcage, which in this case is 32 inches. The letter "B" represents the cup size, which is the measurement around the fullest part of the bust.
